29 years after TV series ‘Jem‘ first made a splash in animated waters, Ariana Grande‘s manager Scooter Braun has been announced as one of the producers behind a live action remake set for release in 2015!
Fan of the original show and want details on its ‘Hasbro‘-backed comeback?
Get in the know…below!
Created by screenwriter Christy Marx, the series told the story of the mononymous Jem, lead singer of Pop Rock girl band ‘Jem and the Holograms.‘
Unbeknownst to her adoring public, Jem and the group’s manager Jerrica Benton are one and the same, morphing into one another with the help of earrings designed by Benton’s late father, used to call on the walking talking holographic computer that is Synergy.
This year, before the release of Ariana Grande‘s second studio album ‘My Everything‘, her manager Scooter Braun completed work on movie remake, serving as one of its producers alongside ‘The Purge‘ creative Jason Blum.
Its release date? October 23rd 2015, set to showcase a revised version of the story, seeing Jem thrown into today’s world as an online recording sensation on a music-driven mission to uncover a message left by her father, Emmet Benton.
It has so much heart; it’s such a good story; the music’s so good. I thought the actresses just did a really good job, and when the movie ends you’re just like all right, all right, we got something here. I literally went back to Universal, who we have the soundtrack with, and I said, ‘You guys, we have a serious sleeper with this movie coming.’

Truly outrageous…that they didn’t pick a black actress to be the black hologram. I’ll watch for free on my laptop when it’s released.
When Nicole Wray payed homage to this franchise in her 2004 video for “If I Was Your Girlfriend” …epic!!! This movie better be good!!!
I see a disaster coming. Hollywood needs to leave classics alone.
