Warren, whose credits include ‘Un-Break My Heart’ and Beyonce’s ‘I Was Here’ sent Carey’s legion of lambs into a frenzy recently after confirming that she has re-teamed with Mimi:

As some will recall, Mariah and Diane previously paired up to pen ‘Can’t Take That Way (Mariah’s Theme),’ which appears on 1999’s ‘Rainbow.’ Thereafter, they worked together on lesser known number ‘There For Me’ (a B-Side on to the ‘Glitter’ LP’s ‘Never Too Far’).
We’ve long felt Carey, at this point in her illustrious career, should be re-embracing big ballads and using them as vehicles to re-brand as a mature album seller.
Of course, she serves as one of the most notable sellers of LPs in history, yet recent years have seen numbers drastically dwindle as she aggressively chased single success.
With her Las Vegas stint proving that there’s still ample power in her name, the time is ripe for Mimi to leverage that win into the relaunch of her modern music career. And if there’s anyone equipped to steer her in the right direction, it’s Ms. Warren.

I agree that Mimk needs to stop chasing hits and focuse on a whole album. If Celine can sell almost 2 million worldwide on her last album, Mariah can too. That Infinity remix wasn’t it but I think Mariah can put out a more mature sounding album and find success. But ultimately she doesnt need to. When you’re one of the best selling artist of all times, you have nothing to prove. I hope Diane served up something epic!

– Diane Warren´s last songs have not been her best though (“I was here” for Beyonce or “Unfinished songs” for Celine Dion´s last allbum), but anything will be welcome from talented people: Diane and Mariah.
– The nerve of TGJ to always mention I was Here as an example of Diane´s work (just cause it involves Beyonce) when so many of her songs for Celine Dion (for example) are so much better and actually, so much bigger and real hits.
– Sam always needing to write the same essay about Mariah. It´s absolutely hilarious 🙂
