Don’t you just hate how “Why Try?” wasn’t a single, even though ALL of the fans practically begged her label to ensure it. It would’ve easily been a top 5 hit, not even stalling within the top 10.
I wanted hands on me over the summer
“Hands on Me” is cute, but do you think such an urban single would do well on the charts for her? I mean…I still have no idea how “Right There” peaked at where it did, even with a feature from a popular rapper.
I think they realized how Love Me Harder was a smaller success than Break Free & Problem, so they backed away from anything ballad-y or midtempo. I think it would’ve been a big song for her, especially with a few well-timed live perfs.

“Focus” finally grew on me and now I need her to promote it more instead of deflecting the general public’s dismissal of the single by working on this Christmas EP. It’ll be cute if she can follow up with a top 10 Holiday hit, but I really just think that it would be foolish of her to pay her less single dust and not give it that extra push of promo it needs to ascend on the Hot 100 again. It’s not that bad of a single.
Love it, gives me a Mariah Carey – Rainbow (but with better vocals and a better looking singer) vibe. Added it to my Spotify Premium.

She´s such a nonfactor and and just an imitator. She´s not even a singles artist now since her “highly anticipated” new leading single just flopped hard recently.

Mariah in her twenties vs Ariana in her twenties is like comparing milk to oil. Mariah was far more mature lyrically, visually, and sonically. I love Ari’s voice but I can’t help but to notice that they’re struggling to market her. Focus is where she tried to finally have some s** appeal. If this EP is anything to go by then they’re about to give her a bunch of trap beats and R&B music then market her to white people even though they KNOW she’ll have an urban demographic anyways. It’s the same thing they just did with Bieber.
