Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye took to the 88th annual Academy Awards tonight to lend a stirring rendition of his nominated hit ‘Earned It’ (found on the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ official soundtrack).
Up for ‘Best Original Song’ at the Chris Rock-hosted affair, tuck in below to hear him wail the fan favorite after the jump:
Performance starts at 1:50
He cannot sing. Beyond overrated!
He was HORRIBLE. He dodged the note at the beginning and it was downhill from there.
Dude is great on record but LIVE he’s worst than Drake singing.
Yes he did dodge that note–Dodged it like a student not ready for a final.
And this is what the youngest generation is into. He is is to “The Dream” as Future is to T.Pain….. Good writes but horrible singer/performer. Can he go away already.
Nice
This DID deserve it over Writings On The Wall, which is considered one of the worst Bond themes of all time.
Poor Gaga stans though. They really thought.
Let’s be honest sis you’re a bit relieved that those predictions did not come true. I bet you weren’t ready for those “my fave has an Oscar” drags if she won??
You are so damn pressed LOL Being nominated for her first song for a film ever and being the favorite before the ceremony is more than enough. Not to mention being the best performer of the night once again. Lady Gaga´s talent kills you. Sad thing is there shouldn´t be any reason for that. I doubt she has done anything to you? 🙂
I think The Weeknd sounded like the recorded version of the song for the most part. However, his tone is an acquired taste because he always sings at the top of his range and when there’s not a lot of power behind it, it comes across as very whiny.
This performance was actually really good! It sounded like the actual record.
He SLAYED.
Hmmm…
Wow, Jackie’s being positive. Alright now Jackie, more of this, I can actually see your halo.
Sorry but this is was terrible.he is def a studio singer which is not Always a bad thing being that he sells records that are actually good, but I could not get through his entire performance nor would I want to
Ooh no. I gave him a chance at the Nit Awards but damn, he aint no live vocalist. Sounds like a drowning chipmunk but he got some great hits that he should rather keep in the studio.
*Brit Awards
He’s bae, but live singing is not really his thing. It’s ok though. He’s still an amazing artist.
