After being arrested & charged for the possession of illegal substances on September 1st, rapper T.I’s fate seemed undecided. Now the ‘Got Your Back’ performer’s parole officer has submitted recommendations for for his parolee’s possible prison sentence. Peep all the details below:
ATLANTA — The probation officer for T.I. is recommending that the rapper face eight to 14 months in prison if his probation is revoked following his recent arrest in Los Angeles.
The rapper’s attorneys countered in court filings this week the probation officer’s recommendations are “erroneous” and that he should at most face between five to 11 months behind bars.
U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell Jr. has set the hearing for 2 p.m. on Oct. 15 for T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris.
An earlier summons for T.I. lists three possible violations of his bond: possession of the drug ecstasy, testing positive for opiates and associating with a convicted felon.Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials say the Grammy award-winning rapper was stopped Sept. 1 on a Hollywood street after making an illegal U-turn. Police say they found several pills confirmed to be a controlled substance. {Source}

One year is much better than three. i hope the judge agrees
His dumb ass is going back to jail……
PO recommends bad biz, that’s a lock. He’s doing some kind of time. smh
Wait a minute! This is B*******! If T.I.P. is guilty, (we don’t yet know that he is), he should get the LINDSEY LOHAN treatment. That b**** walked in the front door and out the back into a drug rehabilitation center run by Robert Shapiro! LINDSEY LOHAN was also on probation and violated it by using drugs and alcohol. Sounds like double if not triple standards going on here folks. I’m going to wait and see! This sounds like some crap to me!
By far not condoning what he did, because it was a very stupid move on his part. Yet again if he has an drug addiction for years, he need’s counseling. Once again not taking his side but, it’s hard when you are addicted to alcohol , food, drugs etc. Once you have a addiction, it’s always there. It’s no different than an alcoholic, if they haven’t had a drink in 20 years and they decide to take that one drink, it will set them back. Being around your peers who are into drugs don’t help either. Linsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and even Robert Downey Jr. were given numerous time to deal with their addictions before having their probation revoked. I think he need to realize that he has a drug problem and maybe instead of prison he need to enter a drug rehabilitation facility. I wish the best for T.I. he’s a young man with a bright future that will go down the drain if he don’t seek the help he need’s.
I agree with the comment that he need to seek help. Putting him back in prison will not help him deal with his drug problem. And believe me he has one. Anytime you have served time in prison come home a few months later, get stopped for a traffic violation and you have been doing drugs. Knowing that that’s a violation of your probation, you have a drug addiction, because there’s no way possible a non drug addict would jeopardize
his career or freedom!
Not only does Tip need help but his wife too. This will be her 2nd time escaping (no pun intended) any charges smh.
Lindsay Lohan is not a convicted felon lol. I hat eto say it but he’s doin some type of time.
THATS WHY LIFE IS NOT FAIR WEN IT COMES 2 BLACK AFRICAN AMERICANS LINDSEY LOHAN GOT SHIPPED OFF WHY DO U FXXXIN OFFICERS ALL WAYS PICKIN DANG
I REALLY hope they don’t go easy on him, I’d say have him do a full year, plus the five months he got off easy on from the last one. NO MORE SLAPS ON THE WRIST!!!! Send maestro back to the slammer.
No she may not be a convicted felon, but she is a certified drug addict, addicted to cocaine . Yes he is a felon, but once again so is, 12-2009 ~ Robert Downey Jr. Detained In Jpan for His Felony Conviction…. Here’s a little run down of his drug years…
Downey pleaded no contest to drug charges. The judge sentenced him to remain in rehabilitation for one year and to three years’ probation. [16 July 2001]
Released from jail on $5,000 bail. [2 August 2000]
Released from jail to complete his six-month jail sentence at a drug rehabilitation center. Downey caused a stir when he was freed to work on a movie. [31 March 1998]
He got into fight with another inmate at the Los Angeles County Jail, where he was serving time for a probation violation, and was treated for a cut over his nose. [13 February 1998]
Jailed for 180 days for violating probation. [December 1997]
Probation revoked after continued drug use. [17 October 1997]
Remanded to a secure drug rehabilitation center. [August 1996]
During traffic stop for speeding, he was arrested for drunk driving, possession of heroin, and possession of an unloaded pistol in his pickup truck. This was his first reported brush with the law at age 31. He was given a suspended prison sentence of 3 years, and granted probation with requirements of random drug testing and drug counselling. [August 1996]
HOW MANY BREAKS DID THIS MAN RECEIVE AND HE IS A CONVICTED FELON TODAY AND HAS STARTED IN BOTH IRON MAN MOVIES….
And people don’t believe that T.I. need help…. professional!!!!!!!
@Ted ~ Well alright not being a racist but here in the good old usa, there is a law for the white american and the african- american, sometime same crime different time. He Downey was a felon and a repeat offender and was given so many chances. It is plain to see that being a felon didn’t hurt his film career.
I’m sorry but does not apply here. I don’t give a s*** about robert downey or lindsey lohan. My little cousins stay bumpin TI and I do too and I’m hella disappointed. He was all over Atlanta acting like a changed man, when in fact he hadnt changed at all. I’m a very disappointed fan.
And why it don’t apply? Robert Downey was on a family show that most of us liked ( Ally McBeal.” and was fired from it, I thought he was a changed man. He was all over tv shows claiming to be a changed man too after been arrested, convicted and served some time. Yet it took from 1996- 2003 before he really got his s*** together. I was truly disappointed that being one of my favorite actor’s that he couldn’t get it together and yet today he has been in a lot of my favorite movies. One thing that I have learn is that they all are human and we shouldn’t put them on a pedstal because “to err is human to forgive is divine”
Maybe that’s why we shouldn’t look at this rappers or any celebrities as role models. I know understand why Charles Barkley felt like he did about being a role model. As soon as these people fall we then drag them through the mud. We can’t be disappointed in man, because the bible plainly tell us not to put our trust in man, because they will let us down. I’m sure you have explain to your nephew how drugs can alter your life and having money and fame doesn’t mean a thing,if you choose to go that route.
Doesn’t matter who what or when or how. I’m a big fan but the point is why would you have drugs on you and you just got out of jail your on probation so you know their monitoring your actions there is no one to blame but his own self I don’t feel sorry for him. All this black this white that stop it. Clearly he is a reckless man who has kids and responsibilities and if he’s not on his grown up then oh well!!! This is a case of when being real and “Hood” comes to bite back quicker than expected
I wonder how much he offered to pay his P.O.
.Drug addiction is a sickness not black or white, it has no color barriers, it doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor. You can be the Mayor of a large city, celebrity, teacher,preacher , mother, father, brother, sister or a child.Once you have acquired this addiction it takes over your mind. I watched for years as drugs became a part of our family, three aunts and two uncles out of a family of nine. I often ask my mother why she never smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol she used to joke and say her sister’s used their lunch money to spool together and buy cigarettes, but she chose to eat cupcakes. As time went on, she said the cigarettes where replaced by marijuana and as they got older they meaning her sisters experience other drugs. Growing up around them and being a large family it was sad to see the toll the drugs took on them and our family, mainy my grandparents, not understanding how their children could be on drugs. One aunt in and out of prison starting at the age of eighteen, my grandmother raising her two children most of their lives. Another aunt losing her son to a killing involving drugs, we the family thinking this would wake her up and it did.She has been drug free since 1998. My uncle working for a large company, relocating to Atlanta to escape his drugs, not realizing there’s drug there too, lost a $22 dollar a hour job once he arrived there, a couple years later, caught smoking crack by his supervisor, lost his home, car etc. now sober and working for $10 an hour .Another aunt drug free for three years after being on for 35 years, told our family three years ago she was tired of drugs.For once in my life I don’t mind her coming to visit my mom. Out of the five being on drugs my oldest uncle at 61 and aunt at 49 are still in denial of having a drug problem. My uncle has walked behind the casket of everyone of his close friend, yet he keep right on doing drugs. My aunt insist that everyone is either crazy or stupid when ask when will it be enough. I guess what I’m trying to say is that T.I. will have to say it’s enough…. You see being 39 years old and watching drugs be a part of my family from childhood I know that it’s a sickness that some people can’t handle it on there own, sometimes family can’t help. Being in jail or prison means nothing when you have that addiction, my uncle(61) had an article wrote on him in our newspaper about his drug addiction and being clean after all those years, three months later he was right back doing drugs.All the backlash at this point means nothing to T.I. he must first acknowledge that he has a problem than seek the help that he need. Putting him back in prison and not addressing it will only allow him to come home again and do the same thing. Drugs have ruin many lives and family and T.I. is not exempt!
This has nothing to do with being Hood…..
Damn..he is definitely going back to jail. Whether it 3 years, five or seven months he is definitely going back. SMH. I can’t feel sorry for him though, I just can’t muster up ANY sympathy for him!
Like someone said earlier, I am a disappointed fan! I really believed all the BS he spit about being a changed man! I don’t a damn about Lindsay, Robert or any other drugie out there in Hollywood, TI knows he was a convicted felon who had JUST got out of prison, he knew he couldn’t afford to mess up AT ALL or his ass was going back to PRISON! He had already gotten a light sentence to begin with from the weapons charges, 1 year and a day (and he only served 7months and the rest on house arrest) when he was facing up to 16 years. He should have gotten out and became a model citizen like he promised but instead he gets caught driving in a Maybach, on Sunset Blvd. of all places, with weed and ecstasy! Stupid Much?!? I mean if your gonna smoke, do that ish at home! He was teal bold with the drugs in the car which proves he thinks he is invincible!
Even though I am a fan I can’t act like he doesn’t deserve his punishment. Its not a black or white issue, TI has to take responsibility for his own actions. He is a grown ass man with SIX kids and he is damn near thirty! His wife is almost forty! He needs to be setting an example instead he keeps making poor ones. He had everything going for him, a No.1 movie, an album on the way, and then he pulls this. He has no one to blame but his self and I have no sympathy for him, I actually am starting to Lowe respect for him. He needs to do better.
I really hope that him going back to prison doesn’t mean we won’t get the prequel to ‘Takers’. *sigh* Being that he is a star and producer I don’t see how they can move forward without him. *sigh*
@Carlababy,
Lindsey Lohan may not be a convicted felon but she should be. That little tramp has been everything including violent while high. Remember when she drove her car backwards down a one way street in a REAL attempt to commit vehicular homicide? Her comment about wanting to kill the person she was pursuing was even caught on a camera phone! What did she get? Yet another slap on the wrist!
I find it fascinating that some ppl can repeatedly thumb their noses at the law and constantly receive a slap on the wrist while others can do 1 thing, ONE THING and they are PUNISHED FOR LIFE! The double standards in both charging and sentencing ppl continue to amaze me! But hey….WHATEVER!
*P.S. I don’t condone what he is accused of doing! I do believe that he has a problem that would be better served in drug rehab than in jail. IMO!
@TED,
THANK YOU! I try not to mention Robert Downey Jr. who also brutally attacked an ex-gf during a drug binge but of course the media strictly focused on the drug abuse and not the issue of domestic violence (DV).
Why are they making such a big thing about pot? They should give him probation within the parole, and give the brother another chance. I am 62 years old and do not smoke, but I see things that are much more damaging going on in the world than a little pot!!!!
…Let’s keep it 100%, shall we? And let’s look at his past and what lead up to his “encounter with the law.”
He got “caught-up in a sting operation” when buying weapons. Why? Because he was nearly killed, NO FAULT OF HIS OWN, while on tour in the Midwest. In that attack, his best friend/body guard was killed, in front of him! (the exact circumstances can be found online)
So, he THEN went and purchased a small arsenal and kept it at his home. I guess he thought that’d keep he and his family safe. Was that, at-the-least …”ill-advised”? Why sure it was!! But I can understand, if not empathize, with the…”rational”..(for lack of a better word)…!!!
I guess the judge understood the reasoning, though…”ill-advised”; hence the sentence.
So NOW, he’s arrested with “possession and using”, NOT distribution: T.I. is an ADDICT…!! If you “make an example of him,” and give him..say…3-years, AND NO TREATMENT, chances are he’ll return to society… the-very-same-addict-he-went-in…!!! And in that case, who benefits? You’ll have then spent hundreds of thousands, keeping him incarcerated; and all for what? Keeping an addict off the streets? And when he returns to society, he’ll still be the drug-fiend he always was; what sense does that make?
Long story short? …We can “satiate our…blood-lust” and make an example of him, OR we can put aside the hysteria, double-standard, class-ism/class-warfare/racism/self-hate and THEN treat an addict, by mandating a VERY strict, HEAVILY monitored and YEARS-lengthy rehabilitation-program. And have HIM pay for it…!!! During which time, and years after, if he should THEN relapse, he should then be “carted-off, bound-and-gagged-shackled-and-chained, and THEN dispatched into the abyss”, never-to-be-seen, nor heard from…. ever-again…!!
X,Y,”and Z” — OUT…!!!
Who cares about what anyone else did, TI is an idiot!!!!! He would never be in this stuff if he knew how to behave. Everyone was rooting for him, he went to every school telling everyone how he had changed. He was in church praising the lord like he was over his problems. He has no one to blame but himself and the people who defend him are just as foolish as he is.
@Xtincta Oct 10, 2010 12:06 am —
“He was in church praising the lord like he was over his problems.” <–Well, obviously, he wasn't "OVER HIS PROBLEMS!" (But how could he? He never got treatment for his problems: his addiction!) And just what were "his problems…?" …Was it exercising "bad judgement" when he purchased those guns after someone tried to assassinate him, but instead, killed his best friend/confidant/body guard, in front of him?
The question still stands: "Do we offer addicts treatment, or do we "lock 'em up, and throw away the key…?" T.I. is an addict! And although he bought guns – FOR HIS PROTECTION, AFTER SOMEONE TRIED TO GUN HIM DOWN – he's pretty much a non-violent drug addict.
So, to close, the argument goes like this: "do we incarcerate, or do we offer treatment? Do we spend precious-limited resources, and lock him up, or do we offer treatment, as a viable cost-effective option…??
X,Y,"and Z" — OUT…!!!
he got caught period… He should do his time and what ever they want to give tiny’s dumb ass if they give her anything… He needs to be a man and do what he has too….
@Waltonsdevil168 —
It seems your choices are obvious, and your definition of “manhood and masculinity seem…convoluted if not primitive!” So the addict gets locked-away, banished to the depths, never to be heard or ever-again seen!
…May your walk thorough this life be without error, and may your choices always be…”just..!!”
X,Y,”and Z” — OUT…!!
