Boom like an 808! Ameriie is back!
The ‘1 Thing’ beauty may have seen the buzz for her 2016 EP ‘Drive’ ride right into obscurity shortly after its release, but thankfully that hasn’t discouraged her from continuing to push toward the release of her long-awaited next LP.
Now, after a year of silence, A has surprised fans with the release of ‘Red Rum’ – a trap-tinged tune that sees the songstress show off every element of the sonic formula that her fans have grown to know and love (rhythmic repetition, unique harmonic layering, and sensual lyrics).
Keen to hear the latest the R&B diva has cooked up? Its all yours below:
Yes, A! Now, as of time reported, there’s no word on if this will officially kick off the singer’s next LP. But, considering it’s the most mainstream sounding release she’s had in a while, we wouldn’t be surprised if it did.
Admittedly, the song – a bit too repetitive in parts – does lack a bit of -umph. But, coupled with a fierce video, we’re sure we’ll have that chorus stuck in our heads in no time.
I like it, it’s catchy. I’ve always been a fan of hers. Good luck
Uh boy…another sellout to the trap sound. Unoriginal
You’re annoying af
And that’s supposed to mean what to me? Go fukk your azzhole…with a knife!!
AMERIIE HAS DONE A GREAT JOB AGAIN !!
You are being delusional if you think any artist is a “sellout” just for not staying in one box artistically. I can’t think of any artist that wants to chart and sell records who does not change it up. Beyonce changes her music style every album and I bet you would not call her a “sellout”.
She has a lane. Fuse them together and make them work is all I’m saying. You get lost when you here too far away from your style. Look at Usher’s last effort. These past artists cannot be trying to stick with the norm especially when they’ve been gone for a while. This song won’t do anything. I’m just being honest.
As for Beyonce, she dabbles but she’s paid her dues to do so. She has a sound and cannot get lost.
When you have a following. You must remember the reason they began folliwing you in the first place, and for Ameriie, it wasn’t trap music.
I love it!
I love it….and actually TGJ her EP Drive was a success with the critics. I’m glad she’s providing music again ?
Sounds good to me! I downloaded her live version of ” Talking to me!!”
Why did she add an extra I to her name?
a lil confusing if you want ppl to check for you.
I didn’t even know she had an EP out for that reason
She said she added the i because of vibes, she said the change “reflects more positive energy.”
…but it’s been speculated she changed her name for contractual/label reasons, so that she could regain ownership over her name/brand.
It’s cool. She has clips from two better tracks that I WANT TO HEAR NOW!! The clips are like a bass heavy Bryson Tiller track with Amerie vocals and chill vibe. That’s THE SINGLE!!! It needs to lead this project.
I would like to hear those songs too. I think Amerie took too long of a break from music and now the only way she can make a comeback is to release a lot of singles at once to get some hype and pick the single with the most buzz to shoot a video for it.
Where are those clips??
Solid effort and very catchy
That shade juice back with their biased and contradictory articles.
“Admittedly, the song – a bit too repetitive in parts – does lack a bit of -umph”
But if this was another artist this would be labeled a flop. But instead excuses are made and redeeming qualities are sought. Please.
And chile, let’s be clear. This lifeless ditty does NOT showcase every element of Ameriie’s sonic formula. This is just a tired attempt at the sound that’s popular now. The end.
I like some of Amerie’s songs, but this isn’t even close to being one of them.
