Social Media Mocks ‘Jane the Virgin’ Star Following “Tearful” Interview About “Anti-Black” Comments

Published: Wednesday 23rd Jan 2019 by David

Gina Rodriguez‘ brand is in trouble.

For, despite efforts to present herself to the world as a progressive and inclusive member of the entertainment industry, her actions have given many reason to believe she holds an anti-black world view.

Only right then, that she clear things up with an interview she hoped would clear her name and clarify her comments.

Alas, the opposite has occurred.

Find out why below….

Very few sympathised with the actress.

Here’s why.

The criticism she is facing is rooted in her supposed efforts to erase the efforts and accomplishments of black women whenever she discusses hurdles she feels she has overcome as a Latina woman.

She is yet to respond.

The U.S. government’s Office of Management and Budget has defined Hispanic or Latino people as being those who “trace their origin or descent to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Central, and South America (other than Guyana, French Guiana, and Suriname), and other Spanish Black cultures………………….ooops. Isn’t the Latino race from AFRICAN culture.

She is jealous and wants to fight fo white acceptance and validation something that African-Americans have worked hard to unfortunately attain lol. At least AAs have their own media in America.. Their own Colleges and more… AAs have broke down barriers been the first to do sooo much that their Colonizer has no choice but to pay!

Ryeab there’s always this “what about us” argument coming from them but it is not black people’s job to save the world. We’ll support you, but we’re not gonna do the work for you. Aren’t Hispanics and Latinos the biggest minority in America now? Pretty sure they overtook AA a while ago. They better start organizing more for the things they want.

A lot of Latinos are anti-black. EVEN if they’re mixed with black themselves. They would take being called black as an insult, but will still say the n word. In Gina’s case, I have seen all the occurrences people are talking about where she dismisses the conversation when it’s not about her and tries to shift the attention from black people. I think it’s just entitlement.

Who cares about Black Twitter bums???

Black Panther was important for not only Black people with representation. It was important for other minorities too. It set the tone for now a Marvel Asian superhero. Representation is important. When she was told that she inspires other minorities aside from Latina women, she changed it to “She wants to inspire women, period”. Nobody noticed it at first…but she is always flinching at the mention of Black women and Black people.

FINALLY! She’s been disrespectful for a while and allowed to get away with it for a while.

This is an outrage if some of you can hear what you are saying and finally listen. Why does skin color matter we have all come from the same God. Get over yourselves. It disgusting that you criticize a women that wants all women to be treated equally. If you really listen to bvb yourselves you sounds racist and it’s really sad.

Please be quiet Light-Skinned person. It’s only White people and people with complexions close to it that spew this “I don’t see color” nonsense. You cannot speak on a situation that doesn’t describe your experience. As a man I cannot speak on what a woman’s period is like. THEREFORE, I will thank you to remain silent until the discussion involves you. I am guessing you are a lighter-skinned Latina woman which is why you’re on this “why does skin color matter” ignorance.

It doesn’t matter, BUT PEOPLE MAKE IT MATTER!

I have a gender-neutral name and have an atypical voice. So when I apply to jobs, I get called back right away for interviews. When I show up, I always get the “Oh, I thought you were..” and they don’t finish the statement. Needless to say as someone who is reminded that he is Black every single second of every day, HOW DARE YOU ask why it matters? Instead of speaking, perhaps you should LISTEN and LEARN from the experiences of others.

Oh please! All these comments are putting the blame on Latino people saying that Latinos need to fight for their rights to be acknowledged and well support you. This s*** is ridiculous all of you are f****** trolls who sit your fat asses behind your computer and cell phones screens looking for the next person to bring down. I bet you’re the same person who thinks r kelly is being vilified and shouldn’t be held accountable for his actions because he’s a celebrated musician and black man who has achieved a high level of success. Nope! I’m not here for you coming to put anyone’s voice down because of what word choice they choose or not choose and what they want to address. If Gina wants to fight for women’s rights and focus more on those causes oppose to addressing or including the women’s rights of black women that is her right. No one can tell you what charity you have to donate your money to. If you choose to donate to peta or if you choose to donate to madd then that is a choice. Maybe she’s trying to stay neutral so she doesn’t say the wrong thing that could negatively impact her career yet her doing so has done that anyway because of the trolls out there who have nothing better to do but want to take the next celeb down with their thumbs.

    • Hmmm… January 23, 2019

NO ONE is telling Gina that she needs to specifically support black women instead of just women’s rights. Their problem with Gina is that whenever black women are being focused on in the conversation, she always changes the subject to make it about herself. You don’t even understand the nature of the problem that people have with her. And telling someone to stop participating in anti black behavior is not bringing them down. I guess, everybody was just supposed to tolerate it forever.

      • MX January 23, 2019

and black women do the exact same thing. ya’ll are getting sooo damn pathetic, it’s no wonder things are the way they are. take some responsibility for your actions. and it ain’t all about you!

  8. Josh January 23, 2019

People aren’t happy these days unless they’re offended by something. Get on with your life’s. Sick of seeing everyone offended by everything when it comes to ethnic origins. Most of the people who moan are like 79% white themselves. Honestly, get a grip people.

  9. Paulo January 23, 2019

Ok I’m lost – what did this girl say before and is she and everyone else aware that she is not white? I get it that her skin is very light but she is definitely not the regular Eurocentric definition of white.

    • Hmmm… January 23, 2019

You don’t have to be white to be anti black… In fact, you can be black and be anti black.

      • Paulo January 23, 2019

True. And sad. But since I don’t care about Jane the Virgin at all this is actually my first time going thru a Gina Rodriguez interview and I’m sitting here clueless haha

  10. Paulo January 23, 2019

Plus this thing about Latinx being a culture not a race…it’s not that simple as 90% of the times it is a social marker of mixed heritage

  11. JA_LA January 23, 2019

As a black man, I will pose the question: why does equality have to be given out group by group? Why are we, as black people, subscribing to the notion that equality has to be fought for or earned? The fact is that anyone who is not a straight white man has to deal with the issue of inequality. We should all be advocating for equality across the board. This is not a “wait your your turn” situation. We also need to understand that for any oppressed community, being pro-your community does not mean you are anti-any other community, and if you are then you are just as bad as the oppressors. People are so f*ckin stupid!

No, It’s a waste of money, It’s a monument to of hateful ideolgy …I like the GoFundMe idea…Let the hate mongerers pay for a grafitti canvas….

  13. Mowglifromthejungle January 23, 2019

Amazingly well spoken and articulate. There is always going to someone who has a problem with what you’re doing or who you are. Keep going and don’t listen to the critics! These are the same people that have issues with their own parents and children, of course they are going to have issues with you too!

  14. Danyboo January 23, 2019

    What did she say though…?
