Welcome to Retro Rewind, the TGJ original feature carved out to celebrate Film and TV and the role they play in uncovering stories some wish would remain hidden.
Today, we revisit the case of LaVena Johnson.…an African-American woman who was found dead eight weeks after she deployed to Iraq in 2005.
The military claimed she committed suicide.
Waiting below?
Documentaries and interviews created by those who say they have good reason to believe she was murdered.
Her autopsy report and photographs taken at the scene of the alleged crime revealed Johnson had a broken nose, black eye, loose teeth, burns from a corrosive chemical on her genitals, and a gunshot wound that seemed inconsistent with suicide…and more consistent with murder.
Lavena Johnson.
Thats all I have to say on that. https://t.co/ZMTkpbc2El

Someone killed her and whoever did this I hope pays dearly.
They will in time. Everyday they wonder when they will be caught.
