One, the average death rate of the common flu is about 0.1%. For c**********, the low estimate is 2%, i.e. MULTIPLE TIMES higher than the common flu.
Two, even if you don’t die, it doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to be asymptomatic. You can still suffer from the symptoms, and in severe cases, sustain lung damages for the rest of your life.
Three, the medical care system is going to be overloaded if there’s a lot of c********** cases and if you need some care, you’re going to be SOL.
And last, it’s extremely callous to say “oh it’s just old people and sick people.” You can still infect others even if you’re not showing symptoms. If you’re fine with your grandparents or your friends suffering and potentially dying, I guess you do you.
I’m not saying we should all panic and go into apocalypse mode right now, but we’re at a critical juncture. The more we can do to limit the spread now, the less damage we’ll have to deal with later.
