It’s good to know JoJo‘s fourth studio album – released May 1 – is winning with fans and critics.
Lauded for its sonic fusion of Pop & R&B while also conceptually seeing the 29-year-old tackle some of her most mature subject matter to date, the project – which boasts only Tory Lanez and 30 Roc as guest stars – has also been praised for putting the powerhouse vocalist front-and-center with its scant feature list.
However, the good news may stop there for ‘Good to Know’ – the GRAMMY winner’s first effort under her Clover Music imprint (in partnership with Warner Records).
As industry analysts have updated their post predictions for next week, Jo’s LP- as of time reported – eyes the lowest first week sales and Billboard 200 chart positioning of her career.
Details inside:
JoJo’s ‘Good to Know’
First Week Sales Prediction (SPS): >19,000 units
First Week Chart Entry Prediction: >#20
Undoubtedly impacted by the current global health crisis, if the prediction above rings true the figures will not only be the lowest first week sales and chart positioning of her career but will also mark the first time she’s missed the Billboard 200’s top 10 with an album premiere.

I was expecting worse
This is decent .
She was still gonna flop regardless of C***** v**** pandemic or not.
The album was one of her weaker ones. Its great r&b, but too short for one and theres no change in tempos. I ‘ll still be going to see her. Hopefully she hits the mark next time.
C********** has nothing to do with this album flopping…the music sucked and there was no campaign. I didn’t even know the album had been released until you all posted. It’s sad to see what’s happened to her career, but if Atlantic couldn’t resurrect her success, nobody can. Warner bros is a flop label. Hopefully she just goes independent and drops fire songs like Mya (Mya is slaying independently).
If you follow her she definitely promoted this album. She’s independent now what do y’all want from her? She will be a successful indie artist who performs at small venues nothing wrong with that..she was a big star at 13yrs old..shouldn’t expect her
To be a mega star still. Plus as you said the music was weak maybe a lot of other people feel the same way
That album is really good if your a true R&B fan
This album is everything! Idk what these comments are talking about.
Right. The album is great. It’s hard to really promote it though. I didn’t know it was out until it was posted here.
Absolutely no one knew about her album release outside of her core fans (which is a very small group, btw). I haven’t listened yet and I’m sure it’s good, but are these sales posts really necessary in 2020? With the exception of a few heavy-hitters, no one’s selling anymore. Even the bigger sellers aren’t pushing huge numbers like years past. Combine that with a global pandemic, and you get JoJo results. No shade because I care about the actual music.
This isn’t that terrible in this climate for her. She has no radio/hit single, no campaign/promo. The album is very good. If she could score a few hits, that would be awesome. That’s the thing. She would’ve gained more sales, and the pandemic side tracked this in some ways too.
I bought it and I think it’s mostly good for what it is, but I feel like she missed the opportunity to include something more fun and upbeat.
19,000 copies isn’t awful compared to Mad Love selling 25,000, but it’s still a step back looking at the chart placement. I will say again that more consistency across the board will help JoJo. I’ve been a fan from the beginning, but from an objective pov, it’s not clear what kind of artist and person JoJo is and what direction she’s going. It’s not entirely her fault though. Lots of people wanted more r&b from JoJo and she gave it to them on this album, and they still didn’t buy it. The same thing happened to Ne-Yo when he put out Good Man. He went back to his roots like everyone wanted and then they failed to buy the album. This is why artists don’t want to take the risk doing r&b.
@Eric – Great comment
Flop! The album is Zzzzzzzz
Your smellyAss is flop reptile
Nothing to do with C*******, the album is a midtempo/downtempo snoozefest. The lead single dropped too soon, Jojo is not the kind of artist who is going to chart highly without a single on the Hot 100.
She needed a stronger concept and more radio friendly material.
This new album is way too short. The concept is different. JoJo should have added some uptempo songs, there were too many slow jams. I like her Rnb style, but with some added Pop songs. She needed just the right comeback single, better songwriters and producers. This album is full of fillers. Mad love was decent and manage to debut in the Top ten. She should release a deluxe version of the album
“Man” redeems this… mixtape.
Needs another “Way U Do Me”!
Word to the wise: never give Twitter fans what they tell you they want. They won’t buy/stream. Impose your taste!
I bought it!
Ugh…bandwagons are legit hurting real artist. Here we have one of the most promising voices in our time and some of you refuse to support.
Support makes sense if half the project’s good. I, for one, liked ONE orphan song. She’s down to panties and a bra in videos to pique buying interest. She doesn’t know herself. A good voice, cussing, and a hood ‘tude drown her in a sea of social-media-created clones. She stood out with her first 2 albums. Been trying to fit in since Mad Love. A shame cuz I like Jojo. But what can you do?
Yes she isnt acting as s l u t like your cumilla -& she has better voice thanher
this album deserves so much better. a true masterclass of R&B in 2020.
R&B doesn’t sell anymore this isn’t surprising at all. Her last album hit the top 5 because she was promoting it with pop radio singles like No Apologies. She didn’t enjoy that album. This is the music she’s always wanted to make. At first listen I was like ‘okay this is good’ and then I went back and realized it’s actually incredible. This is her best body of work.
I agree with another person’s comment- is there really a purpose in writing these articles about their sells in 2020 when almost no one is selling. I honestly think the formula needs to change when it comes to streaming. It counts as too little when it comes to charts and sells.
