After being let go from hit the TV show ‘America’s Got Talent’ a year ago, actress Gabrielle Union hit at the show with allegations of misconduct and racial discrimination. After much back and forth, the two have come to an ‘amicable resolution’ today.

In a joint statement released by the two this morning, NBC and Union shared:
“We’ve reached an amicable resolution. NBC Entertainment appreciates the important concerns raised by Gabrielle Union and remains committed to ensuring an inclusive and supportive working environment where people of all backgrounds can be treated with respect.”
As widely reported, Union was booted from the Simon Cowell-produced show in November of 2019, after she complained about health violations, Cowell’s behaviour on set and racism from certain figures backstage.
Following these allegations, the show was placed under investigation from NBC and FremantleMedia, though no evidence of systemic racism was found. However, thanks to Union’s complaints, the show made ‘significant changes’ to its human resources reporting process.
Union, who is married to NBA star Dwayne Wade, had the following to say following her complaints:
“If I can’t speak out with the privilege that I have, and the benefits that my husband and I have, what is the point of making it?
What is the point of having a seat at the table and protecting your privilege when you’re not doing s— to help other people? It’s absolutely terrifying to speak truth to power about anything. I’m trying not to be terrified, and some days are better than others.”

With a resolution of sorts, perhaps Union’s complaints will bring about positive change to the show?
