Kelly Clarkson finds herself in a legal trouble today and the opponent is her longtime management.
Find out why below…
In a lawsuit that was filed by Starstruck Management Group, Clarkson, 38, is sued for a sum of $1.4 million for unpaid commissions for her work on ‘The Voice‘ and her syndicated daytime talk show ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.‘
The mother of two, who married the son of Narvel Blackstock, boss of Starstruck, has been represented by the management group for the last thirteen years of her career. With an agreed 15% compensation on Clarkson’s earnings, the lawsuit states that the vocal powerhouse has paid her management company a total of $1.9 million, yet still owes the group $1.4 million.
The lawsuit also goes on to state that Clarkson is on track to owe the company a huge sum totalling to $5.4 million by the end of the year.
Per the suit, Clarkson entered into the agreement by way of a verbal agreement.
The official complaint details the following:
“Over the course of approximately 13 years, Starstruck developed Clarkson into a mega superstar. By way of example only, Starstruck was instrumental in helping Clarkson achieve success in terms of numerous hit albums, multiple Grammy wins and nominations, her role on popular television shows like ‘The Voice’ and her own talk show. Despite Starstruck’s hard work and dedication, Clarkson has decided she is going to stop paying Starstruck for what is contractually owed.”
