Moments ago, Drizzy and Live Nation jointly announced the launch of History – a 2,500 seater performance venue in his hometown of Toronto.
The intimate space sets out to “offer artists a versatile and intimate destination to perform and connect with fans in Toronto” and will schedule over 200 events annually.
Speaking on the opening, Drake said in a statement:
“Some of my most memorable shows were playing smaller rooms like History. I wanted to take those memories and what I learned to create an incredible experience for both the artists and the fans.”
Michael Rapino, President and CEO, Live Nation Entertainment added:
“We saw an opportunity to bring Toronto a great new venue, and we have so much gratitude and respect for Drake teaming up with us to bring it to life in the best way possible.”
Riley O’Connor, Chairman, Live Nation Canada also celebrated the news, saying:
“History will offer guests up-close experiences with their favorite artists that are unrivaled in Toronto. We take pride in and expect History to become an important part of the community.”
Word is that History – which is situated in the Beaches neighborhood at 1663 Queen Street East.- has been in the works for over three years. Completion of the construction is set for this summer.
More details can be found via the venue’s official website.
In the here and now, though, kudos to Drake!
