The Lee Daniels-produced drama, ‘Our Kind of People,’ may not have courted the kind of audience the superstar director/producer is used to garnering for his television efforts upon its September 21 premiere, but he more than rebounded with the premiere of ABC’s ‘The Wonder Years’ the following night.
Details inside:
Viewership: 3.23 Million
Despite ranking seventh in the list of the 14 highest-rated primetime network television programs, ‘Wonder Years’ – which reeled in 3.23 million viewers – debuted as the night’s top-rated new comedy. Among network scripted series it competed with during its viewing hour, ‘Wonder’ ranked 4th.
A solid start, the coming-of-age comedy – which originally ran from 1988-1993 – was revamped to show the perspective of a Black family dealing with the social challenges of Montgomery, Alabama in the 1960s.
Narrated by award-winning actor Don Cheadle, the show stars Elisha “EJ” Williams, Saycon Sengbloh, Dule Hill, Laura Kariuki, and more.
Catch ‘Wonder Years’ when it airs Wednesday nights only on ABC.
I like it so far. Not as much as “Everybody Hates Chris”, but still interesting.
It’s cute, but still wish people would create new ideas instead of remaking everything
Shut up, lunatic.
I agree. but they did find a decent one to reboot and I like that they are hitting it from a different perspective. so it’s not a direct reboot. that’s something I guess. but I’m committed to the show.
A ghetto Wonder Years is an easy pass for me. I know that if they made an original show with a ghetto family nobody would watch it, so they need to make one that’s already established. This is not a win for the black community at all, if anything it set them back as it proofs that if an original idea was made with a black cast, nobody would watch it.
Because they’re too interested in mind-numbing easy-to-watch dumbed-down reality shows of black women fighting like Love & Hip Hop. Anything else is a bit too much substance for them to handle so they refer to it as “boring.” It’s the same with music. They can’t comprehend art or anything with a slightly slow beat. All they can understand are up-tempo Hip Hop beats laced with lyrics about guns, gangs, drugs, violence and “p****.”
It’s the same as when they don’t like something you say. They never come back with a rebuttal. They simply reply “stfu” or “stfu b****” as that’s just about as much brain activity as they can handle.
Amen
You wanna be black so bad lmaooooooooo 👊🏽🤣🤳🏽
