Huge congrats and Happy Birthday!
LEGEND’ 🌟 Your faves could NEVER! 💯😘
Imagine how rich is That songwriter written for AIWCIY. He’s getting huge paycheck every Christmas.
You mean both Mariah and Walter? This is exactly why Mariah has always addressed since the 90s people continue to ignore her own pen game including producing skills. No Shade to Whitney or Celine but that alone too is what separated her from her peers she was multitalented with those regards of recording than just her vocals.
You do realise that this doesnt actually mean much. Madonna has been stuck at 65 million certified units since 1994 in the US. And practically ALL her pre 1997 albums are waiting Warner Bros to pay the RIAA to certify the sales. Because thats what happens. The label presents the figures to the RIAA & they certify them. So for example, the last time True Blue was certified by the RIAA was December 1988. It was at 8 million. Like A Virgin? Last certified in Feb 1986, 10.1 million and so on. Its just a matter of time before Warners do the same that So y have for Mariah. And then Mariah will not be the top seller in the US. Its certainly a feat she cant replicate elsewhere like Madonna who is and will always be the worlds top selling female. Mariah remains local
Where’s that Nickination n** job now????? NICKI FLOPNAJ COULD NEVER😘
Why haven’t they updated her sales for the debut album?
Are the songs on that list new certifications that were just released? Because if they aren’t, something definitely seems off. For instance it’s missing a few of her biggest hits “we belong together” sold 4 million, “all I want for Christmas” sold 16 million, her music box album sold 30 million.
Daydream album was certified 5x platinum only three months after release. That is a phenomenal accomplishment compared to how numbers are counted post-2013. Today’s artists aren’t truly breaking any of these records set by Mariah, Barbara, etc.
Carey may be the best-selling female artist, but Barbra Streisand’s artistry is absolute perfection in its nuance of interpretation as well as the technique to be able to do what she does to interpret- it slays me every time. From someone who studied opera and knows music inside and out- Streisand is the pinnacle of female popular music artistic achievement. All I can think is that she hasn’t been able to support her albums recently with tours, whereas Carey has.
There is, nor will there EVER be, anyone remotely like Streisand! You have to be a trained listener to be able to even catch all the things she does. It has to be completely lost on the untrained. Her diction, executed for maximum dramatic impact, is just one aspect of many that people may not really key into.
She has to live and perform or record for another 30 years till I die or I’m going to be unable to handle her eventual passing!
Antonia…By 1000%, I couldn’t agree more! People think because a singer can perform vocal calesthenics, piercing whistle notes and endless runs throughout a song that that makes them great artists, have no idea what it takes to finesse and deliver a song like a story told to touch your deepest emotions–Streisand is a master class at that. As the recently passed great lyricist, Marilyn Bergman, one said of Barbra…”The best singer that any lyric writer could ever have.”
Amen to that, and no one comes close. Besides, if the ability to buy albums, especially in digital form, was available during the first 4 decades of Barbra’s career, her sales to date would be unachievable by any other artist after her.
Congratulations Mariah, the moment some people get a*** pain, you know you’ve made it!
Wow! I had no idea Breakdown was even a single!
Congratulations & happy anniversary to the still vital Mariah Carey!
That’s crazy because Streisand is galaxies away on perfection compared to Carey. Streisand is the best!
Mariah is so deserving of this achievement & honor!!!!!! Her incredible body of work speaks for itself. She is (by far) one of the GREATEST Female Vocalists of All Time! It’s long overdue to give this Living Legend, this QUEEN, this Icon (all her flowers & awards!) 👑✨💖🎶🙌🙌
You all know me as the angel guy who came back from the dead and it’s a miracle that I’m actually a famous guy
Why is it always a contest? I love Mariah, (her early stuff) and I love Barbra, (just about everything she’s done) but what they’d sold or haven’t sold doesn’t matter to me. Pitting women against women just damages us all because we’re forced to believe someone is better than someone else. Clearly they’re both amazing women but I will say to compare any two singers is wrong. People love them for different reason and their love of those artists shouldn’t be diminished. AND any singer singing for awards shouldn’t be in the business to begin with.
LOL Why do Mariah fans insist on lying…this is not true and Madonna has not recertified her albums since 1999 – once she does, Mariah will be in the dust. LOL
The five greatest female singers of the last century are Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Julie Andrews and Judy Garland. Record sales are irrelevant to this.
