As the penwoman behind Platinum and multi-Platinum smashes from Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, and more, Priscilla Renea – now known as Muni Long – had grown quite accustomed to seeing her name attached to certified hits at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Now, with the ongoing success of her R&B chart-topping single ‘Hrs & Hrs,’ Long has finally repeated the feat for herself.
Thanks to continued love on streaming and digital download outlets, Muni has cashed in on her first Platinum single as a performer. The measure is indicative of sales of 1 million units in the United States.
Announced Thursday (April 7), the news arrives just a month after the tune was certified Gold for sales of 500,000 in the same territory.
The third single from Long’s ‘Public Displays of Affection’ EP, ‘Hrs & Hrs’ – which has peaked at #16 on the Hot 100 (as of time reported) – is also in Billboard history books for being the first single by an independent female artist to top the R&B Songs chart.
