Readers of That Grape Juice know how passionate we are about music – whether that be past or present.
However, unlike our other segments – Retro Rewind, TGJ Replay, and From The Vault – The Pop Stop is the most in-depth look at Pop songs that may have flown under the radar over the last week that you should know, rather they be from music’s biggest stars or those on the rise.
This week, we want to highlight cuts from Zara Larsson, Carrie Underwood, Florence + the Machine, The Chainsmokers, Sigrid, ARO, and Ofenbach.
Join us inside…
Zara Larsson – Words
Serving as her first taste of new music this year, Zara Larsson has teamed with EDM savant Alesso for their collaboration, ‘Words.’ The song is complete with handclaps, hazy synths, and a pounding beat. Ready for the club and those late night drives, Larsson has created a song of the summer contender.

Carrie Underwood – Crazy Angels
While the released date for Carrie Underwood’s upcoming album ‘Denim & Rhinestones’ may be in a few months – June 10 – that hasn’t stopped her from going into full promotion mode. Case in point, she has just shared the latest taste of music from the project. Entitled ‘Crazy Angles’ the song sees Underwood ditch the sheen of her previous single and dive headfirst into all-out country-rock production. Roaring guitar and punching drums guide the tune as Underwood delivers a fiery vocal performance. The only thing crazy about this song is just how crazy good it is.

Florence + the Machine – Free
Next month (May 13), Florence + the Machine will be releasing their latest album, ‘Dance Fever.’ To celebrate the mere weeks left until its release, they have unleashed their most recent song, ‘Free.’ Helmed by Florence Welch and superproducer Jack Antonoff the song is as big and soaring and euphoric as rock ballads come.

The Chainsmokers – Riptide
Following the release of the group’s previous singles – ‘High’ and ‘iPad’ – The Chainsmokers are back with their latest single, ‘Riptide.’ All about seizing the day, ‘Riptide’ is a vulnerable EDM tune that sweeps one away. Being vulnerable is always hard, but The Chainsmokers prove that sometimes we have to drown before we can swim. With each tune release, The Chainsmokers continue to prove how their upcoming ‘So Far So Good’ album could be their best yet.

Sigrid – Bad Life
Global sensation Sigrid is back with her latest song, ‘Bad Life.’ Teaming up with rock band Bring Me The Horizon, the pair reflect on the hard times in life, and while they seem to never end, it is not forever. A heart-wrenching song laced with fuzzy guitars, heavy drums, and delicate piano, ‘Bad Life’ is destined to become a staple in both artists’ discographies.

ARO – Against Mine
ARO – otherwise known as Aimee Osbourne, the daughter of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne – has released her first single of the year. Entitled ‘Against Mine’ the song is a dream pop phenomenon. Sultry, dark, melodic, and hypnotic, ‘Against Mine’ has all the makings of a true future superstar.

Ofenbach – 4U
The hitmakers behind such songs as ‘Wasted Love,’ ‘Hurricane’ featuring Ella Henderson, and ‘Be Mine,’ Ofenbach are back with their latest song ‘4U.’ A heavy synth-pop and EDM song, ‘4U’ reflects on the love for someone and how they would do anything for that person. To say that Ofenbach have captured lightning in a bottle with ‘4U’ would be insulting since they have been creating magic like this for years. If anything, it proves that their powers won’t run out anytime soon.
