Summer Walker Reacts to GRAMMYs Snub: “The Math is Literally Not Mathing”

Published: Wednesday 16th Nov 2022 by Sam

While many artists were overcome with joy upon the unveiling of the nominations for the 2023 GRAMMY Awards, singer Summer Walker was not one of them.

For, as reported, the R&B star was one of the notable names omitted from the tally.

This, despite delivering one of the genre’s highest-selling debuts with her official sophomore album ‘Still Over It’ within the nomination eligibility window.

Now, joining the chorus of those weighing in, Walker has shared her thoughts on the snub.

Find out what she had to say after the jump…

Taking to Instagram Stories, the songbird wrote:

“As for the GRAMMYs, for a 2nd time the math is literally not mathing. I was gone post some numbers, but it’s ok. At least the streets f*q with me. Y’all always pack out every show and support every time I drop. So, thanks for the love I do receive.”

She went on to add:

“Thanks for all the overflowing love in my dm’s.”

It’s of note that, while commercial success is considered when determining nominees, it’s not the sole qualifying factor when it comes to the final nomination tally.

With that, do you feel Miss Walker was unfairly omitted? Or was her music not up to par? As ever, let us know…

Your thoughts?

GMG was a flop. 20k first week. None of the songs touched hot 100. Yeah Mary is a legend, so what but the album was utter trash.

Mary old h** is sooooo trashy like DC💅🏾

Don’t matter Mary has 14 albums 30 year career and has sold more records with 1 album than summer whole discography

      • Clarence November 16, 2022

It does matter because the album is trash. As a legend she should be conscious about what she puts out. Especially after her legendary 90’s and 2000’s run.

I would say that SW is like Adele in that she releases an album and then doesn’t promote it. Only difference is that Adele is white. SW had one of THE best rnb albums to drop in the last year but what singles has ahe promoted?? I would have lived to see her in an rnb category but you’ve got to do the work, hun.

The only difference is her music is good and people actually know who she is lol. Black artists rule the charts. Nice try, not everything is racism. Get a life rat.

She is the only one that gets to be in her feelings… she been delivering good lyrics and melodies for a while so for her to not have at least songwriting noms at this point is wild

Summer is too busy being a conspiracy theorist and serial baby mama to realize that she needs to PLAY THE GAME if she wants to be nominated. At the end of the day its all about politics. People don’t become Grammy darlings based on their talent alone. Summer has to campaign just like everyone else. Same with Ari Lennox. That’s just how it is in Hollyweird.

Bye Felicia💅🏾 When she took a shower, she still not welcomed to the grammy ceremony

It’s weird. Summer writes/co-writes her music, can sing, plays an instrument and sells well. The fact that she keeps getting snubbed by The Grammys is a mystery.

Summer, girl you have had your success. Be thankful for that. Aint none of your fans watching the Grammys anyways. The Grammys NEVER get it right when it comes to hip hop/r&b. Look at Chris Brown. He has been the reigning king of R&B for the past decade and how many Grammy does he have? He’s had 20 nominations, but only won ONCE. YOUR FANS KNOW YOU DESERVE A GRAMMY. Thats all that should matter to you.
