Over a clever sample of Dionne Warwick‘s 1964 classic ‘Walk on By,’ hitmaking rapper Doja Cat uses her new song – ‘Paint the Town Red‘ – to trumpet her independence.
“B-tch, I said what I said/I’d rather be famous instead/I let all that get to my head/I don’t care, I paint the town red,” she declares on the Earl on the Beat-produced bop.
Teased earlier this week, ‘Paint’ comes just weeks after its predecessor – ‘Attention‘ – failed to garner much of its namesake on the Billboard Hot 100 (peaking at #31 before quickly exiting the chart).
Undoubtedly one of many gems set to be performed on her headlining ‘The Scarlet Tour‘ (alongside Doechii and Ice Spice), look inside to get acquainted with ‘Paint’ before she delivers it live on a stage near you.
Your thoughts?
WTF is this. Yikes
Her identity crisis era. Po thing
Why are you dressed so scary???
Nicki ended Doja.
Welcome to her Smile era! FLOP!!!
We JUST came up out of a pandemic and this bìtch dancing with the grim reaper
I actually love the song and she’s addressing everything in the music as she should. I guess the Scarlett letter homage is the base for this era.
The talk of red is because of Satan. All these artists are into it. You have to be in order to blow up.
WELL DONE
This h** letting you know she leading you to h3ll. She singing it, and showing you visually. This bish is kuku for satan puffs. I hope she finds the Lord before it’s too late, Chile, because wow.
This is trash and demonic
“Clever sample” – what’s so clever about mixing one of the most beautiful and angelic songs in the history of music with a forgetful one about devil worship?
DEMON TRASH👹
