Nicki Minaj‘s long-awaited fifth studio album, ‘Pink Friday 2,’ charged to digital shelves on Friday (December 8) and within 24 hours was predicted to deliver her biggest first-week sales since 2014’s ‘The Pinkprint.’
Days later, industry analyst revised the projected sum upward to assert the LP would enter the Billboard 200 at #1 with the highest opening numbers of any female Rap album this decade – nearly twice that of the previous recordholder, Doja Cat‘s ‘Planet HER.’
The win may have been trumpeted by Minaj’s dedicated fans worldwide (affectionately called #Barbz), but their GRAMMY-nominated leader dropped jaws when she took to Twitter on Thursday evening (December 14) to tell them to stop streaming the project.
Hours before Luminate (the music data company Billboard uses to inform its chart rankings) is set to make its final tabulation for the week (Thursday nights at 11:59pm), Minaj took to Twitter to demand her fans cease spinning her new project.
According to the ‘Super Freaky Girl’ hitmaker, Billboard revealed only a fraction of her true first-week sales will be considered official due to some of them being achieved from a fan contest where she required participants to provide proof of purchase.

Later, she explained that industry analysts are intentionally misrepresenting the actual sales of ‘PF2’ as she has multiple versions available for purchase and streaming.
When detailing the reason, Minaj said she is “being punished” for not signing a 360 deal, having great fans, and making great music.
The shocking string of tweets won’t be the end of Minaj’s rant. She says there will even more details about the sabotage attempt revealed tomorrow (December 15).
At the time of this report, a representative from Billboard nor Luminate have responded to the accusation.

She hasn’t had a successful album in 10 years and most of her “hits” are forgettable. IMO she peaked with Pink Friday. That was Nicki at her best to me. I don’t recognize this new Nicki.

She released 3 or 4 versions of the same album in a matter of 4 days and discounted the album for $5, it shouldn’t been hard to score 200K, but as the numbers were being reported to up ON TWITTER, I figured she’d have a meltdown soon.
Considering she hasn’t done anything to promote her album pass Twitter, anything over 80K should be a triumph for her. No one cares about a 10 year old documentary or AI gag city. She’s going out sad as he’ll!

Billboard changes rules constantly. Remember when Britney released blackout and billboard changed a rule last minute and she debuted at #2? Britney didn’t have a temper tantrum, she took it and let the album speak for itself. And that album ended up being her best work. Why can’t Nicholas just let the music speak for itself. Nicki Minaj is pathetic. She’s in her 40s still trying to compete with the new girls, instead of transitioning into the next phase of her life. Nicki knows that she will never be able to end her career because she will go out the way Foxy Brown did, and that scares the living daylights out of her. When she stops putting out music, she will have no legacy, no classics, and no genuine hits. That’s why she has to be so concerned about chart positions and streaming statistics. When it is all said and done, Nicki will just have a bunch of industry-manipulated numbers. That doesn’t sustain a legacy.
Foxy Brown had Billboard no. 1 albums, which had better music on them than Nicki’s nonsense, but nobody remembers her today; they just acknowledge Lil Kim, the Queen she copied. Nicki will not be remembered. Her musical catalog is just not strong or original enough. When Kim said on a diss to Nicki: “You hustle all wrong. You only chase the fame,” it is looking like that line was prophetic. Nicki is in her 40s still chasing Billboard positions and numbers like a thirsty new artist, but her delusional fans want to compare her to Beyoncé and Rihanna. As if you would ever find Bey and Rih fighting over Billboard numbers on Twitter. It’s laughable. I see why Drake barely wants to be associated with her in public.
