Over time, many a hit made the rounds amongst a multitude of artists before its eventual release and resonance.
And it’s emerged that such was the case with Kylie Minogue‘s viral smash, ‘Padam Padam.’
Housed on the legend’s latest album ‘Tension,’ the track was launched as its lead offering and took all the way off – peaking within the top 10 of charts worldwide.
It even earned Minogue a nomination at the forthcoming GRAMMY Awards 2024.
However, its producer Lostboy has revealed that the track was almost Rita Ora‘s.

Speaking to The Sun, hitmaker shared:
“We wrote Padam in February 2022 and there were maybe four or five months of us sitting on it, then I sent it to their label, and someone suggested to me, ‘Kylie would kill this.'”
They were unsure and there was a moment when Rita was going to cut it and it was worming around a few artists on that label. They were trying to make it work but they didn’t think it was for Kylie.”
As for how the final, released version of the cut turned out, Lostboy added:
“I was surprised at how confident she was that she could make it, that it would fit for her.”
Kylie’s worst IMO. Deffo fits Rita. Tension’s way better. But the entire planet loved it 💅
I’m part of the planet and I did not love it.
Join my club 🙃 What did the hoards like about it?!?
Close call. Rita stinks!
Two irrelevant boring white flops anyway. Who tf cares!
Glad it went to Kylie. With Rita it would’ve tanked.
