Saweetie is answered many questions about her career in her Allure cover story including how music executives have treated her.
More details below…
In the interview, she explained some of the issues she faced as a female in the industry with Allure reporting on it.
“She didn’t feel confident in her team, and, early on, there were industry executives who gave her stunted and sexist advice on how to get to the top. ‘I was told I should twerk more on my Instagram,’” Saweetie revealed to the publication.
“I was told that my voice was very boring. I was told that I rapped too monotone and needed more energy. I was told that I needed to share more of my life on the internet,'” she continued.
“I just feel like nobody was caring about my music. To me, music is sacred. It’s coming from your spirit. You can’t just go finish an album in a week. That’s why it’s taking me so long. That’s why I haven’t dropped an album yet,” Saweetie said of her previous camp.
However, the rapper has gone on to release her latest single ‘Richivities’ this year.
This is why we have S*** Redds, and Sukihannas, and The City Girls, and Flo Milli, and Latto, and Glorilla, and Cardi, and Chloe Bailey. It’s the execs behind the scenes telling these women to s*** it up for fame and money. Good for Saweetie for telling the truth.
And all of them are flops so how’s that twerking and degenerate behavior working for them
Flops how? They’ve all had top 100 billboard hits and are earning more money than they ever would have made working a regular day job.
You their accountant? All these stank h*** are in 360 deals and selling p****. That one tiktok hit isn’t getting them far.
Are you? Have you seen their contracts? Your dislike for them does not mean they’re flops.
Twerking is the only thing that Black woman good at 💅🏻
And being illiterate is the only things Latinas are good at
