The British royal has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks – with many worldwide flooding social media with theories regarding her whereabouts.
Now, in a video shared with the media and public alike, the 42-year-old opened up about being diagnosed with the disease.
In the emotional address, Kate shared that she had abdominal surgery in January – which doctors initially did not believe to be cancerous. Following the procedure, it was determined that cancer “had been present.”
She went on to explain:
“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment. This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
