From industry legends like Mary Lambert to peers Chris Brown, KeKe Palmer, Fantasia, Jazmine Sullivan, India Arie, and many others over the years, Brandy is no stranger to receiving adulation aplenty for her signature vocal stylings – a lauded technique that’s led many to deem her the “Vocal Bible.”

But from all who could lend praise, it’s hard to believe any could be higher than the Songbird Supreme Mariah Carey – one-third of the Vocal Trinity (alongside Whitney Houston and Celine Dion).

As the latest guest on iHeart’s ‘Las Culturistas‘ podcast, Carey dropped by to discuss everything from her forthcoming Christmas tour to her iconic discography and more.

Among the recordings revisited from the penultimate topic was ‘The Roof‘ – a fan favorite from the diva’s magnum opus (1997’s ‘Butterfly‘) that got a 2022 revamp when B-Rocka (born Brandy Norwood) joined her for the tune’s parent album’s 25th anniversary.

Mimi seems to have nothing but fond memories of her time with Norwood.

“I need to see Brandy; she’s amazing,” Mariah shared with hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang.

Later in the chat, the five-octave diva dished on what she loves about Bran’s voice.

“She loves to do [vocal stacks]…she’s great at that,” Carey relayed. “When we were working together, we were having fun stacking and adding little parts…I love her voice. I love it so much.”

High praise from a songstress Brandy herself has long deemed an idol.

“For her to be Mariah Carey, she’s just normal, chill, [and] supportive. When I was in the booth, doing whatever she wanted me to do, it was just beautiful to be coached by her. Like, this is one of my favorite singers—top two. Whitney [Houston], and then it’s Mariah,” she said around the time of ‘The Roof’ remix release.
