Just six months after entering the Billboard 200 with the highest first-week sales of her career at the time thanks to the April-released ‘Ehhthang Ehhthang‘ mixtape, GloRilla has not only surpassed her personal best but the bests of every female rapper who dropped this year courtesy of her October 11-released debut album ‘Glorious.’

Zooming past industry analysts’ sales prediction, ‘Glorious’ premiered at #5 on the updated Billboard 200 thanks to handsome total sales of 69,000.
The chart position marks her first time visiting the top 10, having previously only gotten as high as the #11 peak of her 2022 ‘Anyways, Life’s Great…‘ EP.
Most noteworthy is the sum that accompanied ‘Glorious’ to its glorious debut as that 69,000 marks the highest first-week sales of any female Rap project released in 2024.
The previous owner of that title was Glo’s ‘Wanna Be‘ co-star Megan Thee Stallion who launched at #3 with 63,000 sold of her June-released LP ‘Megan.’

How many rap albums by female emcees were released this year? Gorilla, Bree Runway, Ice Spice and Sexxxy Red, they all strippers with no vocals or licks. Least Cardi has an ear for music and some flow. Even Latto has potential.
Male rap is just mumbling to noise, female rap is non existant. Lil Kim, Foxxy Brown, Khia and Missy Elliott were in their day better than female rappers today. Sales wise, nicki leads the pack but her biggest tunes are pop and her discography has very little replay value outside of the album cycles.
Dang Glo went from being Meg theee Mares opening act to outselling her first week sales LMAO damn this is embarrassing the donkey had a #1 hit and endless hype just to get outsold 💀
