JoJo is still basking in the glow of learning of her long-awaited memoir, the September 18-released ‘Over the Influence,‘ made it over the sales threshold to be crowned a New York Times Best-Seller less than a month after arriving to sales.
Still hot on the promo trail in its support, Jo took to Billboard recently to dish on burning questions from the autobiography, talk about future musical plans, and more.
When not talking about her latest single, ‘Porcelain,’ and confirming a new EP and tour are in the works for 2025, JoJo (born Joanna Levesque) fielded questions about her rumored beef with fellow powerhouse diva Christina Aguilera after it was rumored the ‘Dirrty‘ singer was the unnamed celebrity who did Levesque dirty at a fateful TRL meeting in the early 2000s.
Opting not to reveal the person in question’s name, Jo also didn’t directly deny Xtina was the true answer to fans’ speculation.
“The reason why I didn’t name names and thought it was unnecessary to do so was because it has nothing to do with the person; it had everything to do with how it made me feel. It made me feel like sh*t,” she said (as seen in the clip above). “It made me feel so sad for my uncle who also kind of felt this person’s vibes.”
Later in the chat, Jo reiterated she’s not a “salacious person” and didn’t include the story to be “attention-seeking” because she “loves the [unnamed] person.”
Elsewhere, JoJo beamed about her friendship with fellow award-winning songstress Tori Kelly – whom she’s not only shared stage time with on multiple occasions over the years but also recently dropped the original duet ‘Bottomline‘ with.
“One of my closest friendships in the industry is with Tori Kelly, and [she’s] one of the greatest [voices] of all time,” Levesque relayed. “It’s a healing relationship for me – for my inner child and my grown a** adult self. Our relationship is really a sisterhood and it’s so pure.”
