I just feel like Ciara had a lane and left it, and then tried desperately to get it back, but on the backs of a brand-name team. She learned the same fate that Mariah did with that Angels project.
At this point, I would model Aaliyah’s “OIAM” album. I’d get a fresh, hot producer, songwriter pair/team that are unique and not exactly popular or mainstream yet…and I would let them do the heavy handed work on her next project…

ALOT of this stuff I agree with, but it is not just the music. The promotional aspect of it ruined the majority of her album sales.Everything just has to be almost perfect this time around. Music wise, DON’T be afraid to experiment and find your sound. True Ciara was our homegirl next door, but homegirl grew UP! She needs that fantasy ride crossover appeal, the emotion and rawness of the Evolution, the Cockiness of Basic Instinct, and the catchy aspect of Goodies. Easier said than done, but with the right Promotional Team and FRESH producers anything can be accomplished.. She needs to WRITE this time around and get what she says out there. She needs a Pop/R&B sound and her songs need to be released to MAINSTREAM radio AND URBAN radio, something Jive never did, part of the reason why her last two albums flopped. Her last Mainstream song went TOP 10!!!
She needs to take advantage of POP music as of now to rebuild her audience, and mix that in with Hip Hop/R&B. Probably enlisting people like James Fauntleroy and Danjahandz and Timbaland for some Hip Hop and R&B and maybe people like Stargate and RedOne for some Pop cuts. Something modern but with versatility like Rihanna.
Even though people criticized her, she was headed in the right direction on Fantasy Ride. Dwindling popularity is better than the irrelevance that was “Basic Instinct.”

but even if ciara did dance music i don’t think her whole album should be, i think she needs a good mix of dance music for mainstream and then some r&b like she use to make. oh but even if she does dance music that doesn’t guarantee that her album will sell, there are several artist who have made the switch to dance and they can’t even sell 1 million. no shade but it would of been so much easier for ciara to make a comeback if she didn’t already have two failed albums.

this is false. that is an excuse used when albums don’t sell like they are intended to, biggest example would be adele, she had almost no promotion at all, and no #1 song when the album dropped, she later got a #1 with rolling in the deep and with someone like you, but not until after the album dropped so the right first single doesn’t determine if the album will sell or not. as for promotion even look and britney spears, she did no promo except for a show the week that her album released and she still managed to sell 1 million ww at least.
Ciara f***** up. She did have her own lane and she’ll never get it back—too busy being a celebrity instead of an “artist”. BUT she is super talented as a dancer and a pretty good singer. She can put on a show, and has a stage presence. Ciara is worth 20 of Rihanna–no matter how much she’s misstepped and flopped. I hope she comes back STRONG!

Let’s just go back to basics (pun intended). Cici’s Goodies and Evolution LP killed the scene. People fell in love with her because the music was fun, real, and danceable. Her image was perfect because she showed herself to be the girl next door. The girl that could be classy but could also hang with the guys. Songs like 1,2 Step, And I, and Ride are classic Ciara songs. Lately, she’s been trying to garner cross over appeal like Rihanna, but it hasn’t worked. Some artists try to follow the trend and it works for them. Rihanna never had one sound, so people are use to her trying different styles. Ciara came out as a solid R&B artist so she gets people’s hopes up when she crosses over to something different. Just be who you are. It’s worked for singers like Mary J. Blige, Tyrese, and Monica.

I honestly believe that Ciara is one of the most underrated yet talented pop stars of our decade. However, the competition on the charts is fierce & ferocious. Especially with the growing trend of pop stars. She somehow gets compared to Beyonce & Janet Jackson & quite honestly, she is not at their level. She has to compete with whichever pop star is relevant at the time. Of course Lady Gaga is killing the game, living legend Britney Spears, & pop whores Rihanna, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, etc. Especially male R&B stars are incorporating that dance/pop/electro/house/techno/club/dubstep/europop sound. Pop will never die. Sometimes making pop records can save you. & Sometimes, it can looked at as basic.
Ciara is a phenomenal dancer. Her singing is mediocre but does that really matter? She is a good person with a good heart & she deserves success. I don’t normally do these but let’s see how I do.
Ciara’s 5th upcoming album:
The title is extremely important for it creates a cohesive album in one name. Her title should be strong, simple, & interesting. Maybe something in a foreign language?

She needs David Guetta, Bloodshy and Avant and Ester Dean writing and producing for her. She needs another song like “Gimme Dat” and JLo’s “On the Floor” to get our attention. Its been proven that her dancing too much as well as she does is not worked so I think she hs to amp up the s** appeal and more choreographed moves like the Old Janet Jackson and I think she will be back on track. Pleas eget rid of The Dream.

They are all African-American talents who combined Pop & R&B combing all fans alike, therefore contributing to their world-renowned success. Ciara needs a huge #1 hit that can stay #1 for a couple weeks at least. Something that probably samples an older classic, something big, something that can go #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot Dance Club Play charts, American Top 40, etc. Something Pop, R&B. A huge celibratory single to start off 2012.

Ciara is the female inventor of Crunk & R&B. It was fresh, it was grimey, it was original. She created her own lane that no other R&B artist attempted to create. It was sizzling hot on radios because people loved bumping it up & just cruisin’ around, chillin’. She needs to bring that vibe back. This is the single that can be the polar opposite of “All For You Part 2”: hard, fierce, dark, etc.
4.) OMG – Usher
Usher’s single was released to mixed reviews fro music critics but the public definitely was surprised by the experimental sounds. Obviously, Usher did not try that hard in the studio when he was recording this w/ Will.I.Am. He was playing w/ auto-tune & layed that obnoxious sounding voice on top of some hot club beats & arena sounding chants. Trust me, Ciara can do this & that’s an automatic #1 for club & radio.

Ciara needs a dance oriented sound that is still original to her urban roots, just like “Try Again”. It was still pop, but still urban. It had that once unique sound that Timbaland mastered years ago.
6.) Run The World (Girls) – Beyonce
Now, I personally worship Queen B. I can’t even comment on a post about Beyonce because I would literally type out an entire novel. She is the best, most talented woman in the game. I don’t care what anyone says. I loved “4” & I honestly liked “RTW” but I don’t understand why it wasn’t as big as “Single Ladies”. They were both almost the same in formula. Except RTW was more of an angrier cousin to SL. Anyways, what I loved the most about RTW was the high profile music video & immaculate live performances. Ciara is not known for her boring ass music videos so she needs to put one out that can actually be seen being nominated for “Video Of The Year”. A music video similar to RTW & SL: Nothing but pure dance. We all Ci can dance her ass off. Now prove it. Nothing like “Ride” tho. Something fashion forward as well & extremely cinematic.
& Of course, some sad ass R&B ballad. Again I am lazy.
I don’t know why ppl are saying she shouldn’t do ballads YES THE HELL SHE SHOULD!!!!!! SLOW TRACKS GETS THE ATTENTION OF EVERYONE AND PLUS A TIGHT CHOREGRAPHY TO GO WITH IT!!!!! THAT ALONE WOULD BRING HER BACK

If I were A&R’ ing Ciara’s 5th album I would have her go for songs that complement her style which is “Aggressive but Sweet”. She needs AMAZING BEATS, because she is a Dance/R&B oriented artist. I know people tend to run this one in the ground but she should look to Aaliyah’s self titled album and “One In A million ” as INSPIRATION only, No copying. Their artistry is so similar it’s haunting sometimes. I see alot of Aaliyah in Ciara , as many people have already commented. I think its great she’s working with Diane Warren because she needs a “One I gave My heart to” ballad, “Promise ” was her “OIAM”. I think her real A&R and LA Reid are already thinking of putting her on track with what Aaliyah was creating during her career. I would also place her with Timbaland , and some new unknown producers. I think if she works with Dream , it should be limited to one or two songs.
I’M SO GLAD CIARA IS COMING BACK SO WE CAN GET SOME REAL ENTERTAINMENT, AND THIS WAS ALL SHE NEEDED TO DO WAS TO LEAVE THAT JIVE LABEL AND GET WITH L.A REID WHERE SHE STARTED, YOU GO CIARA AND YOU ARE THE BEST DANCER EVER, PLEASE BELIEVE IT!
I don’t specifically have a direction I want Ciara to go in! I want her to be herself, and do her own thing! I loved ‘Goodies’, ‘Ciara: the Evolution’, ‘Fantasy Ride’, and ‘Basic Instinct.’ The first two albums did great, but the last two only did bad because of the poor promotion. If her production team amps it up this time then she’ll do great! A mixture of those albums would be a great comeback. Something like ‘Thugstyle’ or ‘Bang It Up’ or ‘Work’ or maybe even ‘You Can Get It’ 🙂

I honestly feel that Fantasy Ride and The Evolution were her best two albums to date. The promotion of The Evolution wasn’t really that much, but she still managed to sale alot, as for Fantasy Ride, the lack of promotion really threw it off the map. That album was priceless, a true album from a true artist. I’m a Ciara fan to the core, but Basic Instinct was a disappointment. If her label manages to give her the promotion that she needs and the songs that will truly showcase her talents and vocal ablilities, she would be UNSTOPPABLE!!
