A wave of threats hit several historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) this week, forcing lockdowns, class cancellations, and heavy police presence.
All in the wake of the shocking assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.

With Kirk’s verbiage and following being anchored in controversial takes on race and more, his death and the circumstances surrounding it have sparked a wave of debate.
Various reports from institutions have stressed threats, leaving students shaken and asking whether this was more than just a coincidence.
At least eight Black colleges and universities across the country have implemented shelter-in-place orders, cancelled classes, and shut down campus facilities on Thursday, the 11th, after threats were made against their institutions.
A statement from the FBI to Spectrum News read:
“The FBI is aware of hoax threat calls to a number of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The FBI takes these threats very seriously because it puts innocent people at risk. While we have no information to indicate a credible threat, we will continue to work with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to gather, share, and act upon threat information as it comes to our attention.”
The news comes after President Donald Trump announced that the suspected shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was captured after being turned in by his father.
