When it comes to record sales, few can boast stats rivaling that of Madonna.
The best-selling female artist of all time globally, the Pop Queen boasts a whopping 12 multi-Platinum albums in her native USA alone – a feat that once placed her in a firm tie with Barbra Streisand for the all-time top spot in Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) history books among women.
On Tuesday (September 30), however, that all changed thanks to a slew of certification updates for Taylor Swift.
As reported here, Swift saw a whopping 14 beloved titles from her expansive discography get certification upgrades (to historic measure).
Collectively, the updates pushed her career-wide Stateside album sales to 105 million – knocking Mariah Carey out of the top spot for overall best album seller among women.
Together, the certification upgrades also lifted her career-wide Stateside multi-Platinum-certified album count to 15 – the most of any female act since the RIAA began certifying albums in 1952. It should be noted that number does include Tay’s re-releases.
The previous recordholders, Madge and Babs, are still tied at 12 apiece.

Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of A Showgirl’ now expected to earn the biggest first week sales for any album in US history, surpassing Adele’s ’25’.
