The television personality has revealed that a cosmetic procedure he underwent in 2021 resulted in unexpected complications that left him dealing with ongoing discomfort and facial swelling.

According to Brown, scar tissue developed following the surgery, impacting his saliva glands and making everyday actions such as smiling increasingly painful.
The former daytime talk show host shared with PEOPLE that he recently underwent corrective surgery to address the issue and restore normal function, saying:
“This doctor did the most amazing work,” he says of Dr. Carl Truesdale. “I’m so thankful because I was in pain every night, every day. It was horrendous. Thanks to this doctor, I feel so much better. I’m smiling better, there’s not saliva collecting, the scar tissue’s gone. It’s good.”
Brown admitted that embarrassment played a major role in his decision to remain silent about the experience, despite public speculation surrounding changes to his appearance. He shared:
“For years, people have been like, ‘Karamo’s had plastic surgery. He has so much filler in his face,’ I was like, ‘You know what? I can’t say anything because you can’t get into fights with the trolls.’ But I was suffering for years in pain and no one knew.”
