Fans of ‘Supacell’ have been waiting with bated breath for news on season 2 of the hit Netflix series.
And their patience has been duly rewarded.
For, the show’s creator has confirmed that filming has officially wrapped. What’s more, he’s opening up about what caused the delay.

‘Supacell’ premiered in 2024 and earned global acclaim for its gritty take on the superhero genre and its unique narrative that tied together its protagonists by way of their battle with sickle cell. The real-life condition is positioned alongside the superhero traits each character possessed.
A seismic success, the show earned a season 2 renewal at the streamer.
However, with almost two years passed, folk have been wondering when the sophomore season would launch.
And while a launch date announcement is pending, Rapman has confirmed that shooting is complete after “circumstances” beyond his control occurred.
Taking to Instagram, he shared a snap of himself in an editing bay with the caption:
“Due to circumstances out of our control we had to pause production for a while. But filming is finally done! I’m currently in the edit getting it ready. It’s coming and I PROMISE it will be worth the wait. 💪🏾🙏🏾. #Supacell2.”
There is no formal word on what caused the hold-up. And some fans have pondered online whether the imprisonment of star Ghetts may be a factor. Others, however, have suggested the potential implausibility of this given the seeming fate of his character in season 1.
Whatever the case, what is for sure is that ‘Supacell’ is locked, loaded, and heading back to screens.
