Taylor Swift is set to make history at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.
The Pop titan has been named the first-ever recipient of the MTV VMA Artist Director Honors, celebrating her impact behind the camera and her evolving approach to visual storytelling.

MTV announced the new honor today, revealing that it will recognize music stars whose directorial work has helped advance the art of the music video.
Swift has increasingly taken the reins of her own visuals, directing works such as ‘The Man,’ ‘Cardigan,’ ‘All Too Well: The Short Film,’ ‘Anti-Hero,’ ‘Bejeweled,’ and ‘Fortnight’.
The 36-year-old has won Best Director four times from seven nominations and heads into this year’s ceremony with nine additional nods.
The accolade adds another major moment to an already stacked show. Madonna will open the night, while RAYE, Lisa, Gunna, Shaboozey, and more will perform.
Hosted by Snoop Dogg, the 2026 MTV VMAs air live from Los Angeles on September 27 at 7:30pm ET on CBS and MTV, with streaming on Paramount+ in the US.
Suffice it to say, Ms. Swift making her mark on both sides of the lens.
