Drake is taking his legal war with Universal Music Group back to court, and now the showdown has a date.
Oral arguments in the superstar’s appeal over Kendrick Lamar‘s blockbuster diss ‘Not Like Us’ will take place on December 4.

Per Music Business Worldwide, lawyers for Drake and UMG will appear before a three-judge panel at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
The oral arguments represent the final stage of the appeal before the panel determines whether the case should be revived.
As widely reported, Drake sued UMG over its release and promotion of ‘Not Like Us’ following his seismic 2024 Rap battle with Lamar. K. Dot himself is not a defendant.
For all the discourse about a Rap beef moving from bars to briefs, Drake has consistently framed his case as being bigger than his lyrical spar with Lamar.
The Toronto titan alleged that UMG knowingly amplified what he maintains are false claims contained in the track and sought to devalue his music and brand to gain leverage ahead of contract negotiations.
UMG has emphatically denied the allegations.
In October 2025, Judge Jeannette Vargas dismissed the lawsuit in its entirety, ruling that the challenged lyrics amounted to nonactionable opinion when viewed in the context of a heated Rap battle.
Rather than leave matters there, the 6 God formally pushed forward with an appeal. UMG, meanwhile, is asking the appeals court to uphold the dismissal.
From a chart war to a courtroom war, the saga remains one of Hip-Hop’s most unconventional post-beef chapters.
All the while, Drake has hardly gone quiet musically. The MC unleashed three albums in one swoop earlier this year: ‘ICEMAN’, ‘MAID OF HONOUR’, and ‘HABIBTI’, before making Billboard 200 history with the trio.
