Sheeee’s baack!
After an 8 year hiatus, Queen of Quiet Storm Anita Baker storms radio with the first single from her forthcoming, 7th studio LP ‘Only Forever’. A remake of longtime friend Tyrese‘s ‘Lately’, the Grammy-winning alto has been getting nothing but sweet love from critics who’ve deemed the song a well-worth-waiting for return.
Sure to join the singer’s long list of favorites including ‘Sweet Love’, ‘Giving You the Best That I Got’, ‘I Apologize’, and more, get into ‘Lately’ – the latest from Miss Anita below:
Yes! Yes! And, yes! Welcome back Anita!
The song marks the first time listeners have gotten a new treat from the diva since 2004’s ‘My Everything’ (which succeeded Baker’s 1994 release ‘Rhythm of Love’). But to say Baker has not missed a beat would be a grave understatement. Showcasing the smooth, refined vocal stylings that rose her to prominence in the mid-80s, ‘Lately’ is just proof that somebody out there still cares enough to make real R&B!
Here’s hoping this is just the beginning of gems offered from ‘The Songstress’. ‘Forever’ due in stores October 23rd.
