Breonna Taylor’s family have reached a “substantial” settlement in the wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Louisville today.

As widely reported, Taylor was fatally shot in March this year by the Louisville Metro Police.
The cops, who were carrying out a narcotics investigation, unjustly broke into Taylor’s home in a ‘no knock’ search warrant. Though not even the culprit of the investigation, shots were fired at Taylor, which ended by killing the 26-year-old EMT.
Taylor’s family went on to sue the city of Louisville in a wrongful death lawsuit.
Today it’s been announced that a settlement has been agreed to and is described as a ‘multi-million dollar settlement’
Taylor’s family attorney, Sam Aguilar, tells CNN:
“The city’s response in this case has been delayed and it’s been frustrating, but the fact that they’ve been willing to sit down and talk significant reform was a step in the right direction and hopefully a turning point.”
In response to the settlement, Until Freedom, a social justice organisation who have protested in Louisville state:
“No amount of money will bring back Breonna Taylor, we see this settlement as the bare minimum you can do for a grieving mother. The city isn’t doing her any favors. True justice is not served with cash settlements. We need those involved in her murder to be arrested and charged. We need accountability. We need justice.”

Greg Fischer, Louisville’s Mayor, is set to make a formal announcement today along with Taylor’s family attorneys.
