After weeks of heated Senate hearings that centered around political hot topics, as well as intense scrutiny of Jackson’s nomination, the 51-year-old was officially named moments ago.

She becomes the first Black woman to earn a seat on the US’ highest court after the 53-47 confirmation vote in the Senate.
