Trump held a press conference from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, where he announced the news.
In his hour-long speech, the former president touted his time as president as a “golden age.” and that he “kept my promises.”
“We will be slandered. We will be persecuted just as I have been … but we will not be intimidated. We will persevere … and in the end we will win. Our country will win,” he said.
This will serve as his third bid for president and could potentially see him back in the White House for the first time since the events of the January 6 insurrection that took place.
Additionally, according ABC his run for president comes as he is currently under several federal investigations, including the Jan. 6 probe, the investigation into Trump’s handling of documents recovered at Mar-a-Lago, and an investigation into his fledgling social media company, Truth Social.
