The US’ current Vice-President has officially passed the threshold to nab the Democratic presidential nomination following a vote of party delegates.
In doing so, she makes history by becoming the first Black woman and first Asian American to lead a major-party ticket.
Harris expressed how “honored” she felt “to be the presumptive nominee” ahead of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago on August 19 when her pick is formalized ceremonially.
It sets the stage for a seismic showdown with Republican candidate Donald Trump in November.
As reported, Harris was placed on the presidential track after Joe Biden announced his decision to bow out of the race.
