The 60-year-old has been tapped to stand alongside Harris as her Vice President pick. Together, they form the official Democratic ticket.
It sets the stage for a seismic showdown with Republican nominee Donald Trump and his VP choice, JD Vance.
Walz was elected Minnesota governor in 2018 and served 12 years in Congress. He also served in the Army National Guard for two decades, taught at high school, and worked as an assistant football coach.
Many in the political landscape believe Walz’s experience and plainspoken, small-town persona could be advantageous in swaying independent and conservative voters.
Of late, he has become particularly notable for being unbridled in publicly branding Trump “weird.”
