TikTok Shut Down

TikTok has officially been shut down in the United States.

Full story below…

After much ado, the social media platform went dark to over 170 million users in the US overnight (January 19).

The move follows the Supreme Court upholding its ruling that the China-owned service would be shuttered Stateside if a US buyer (for the American side of the business) could not be found by the deadline.

TikTok has now been removed from app stores and US users are now seeing the following message:

“Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now.

A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use TikTok for now.

We are fortunate that Donald Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned.”
