Trey Reed cause of death ruled as suicide

Authorities in Mississippi have released the results of the autopsy for De’Martravion “Trey” Reed, the 21-year-old Black student found hanging from a tree at Delta State University.

Full story below…

According to the Cleveland Police Department, the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death as hanging and the manner of death as suicide, consistent with their initial investigation. Officials noted that toxicology tests remain pending and could take several weeks to complete, while all investigative files have been forwarded to the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office for review.

Reed’s death, which drew widespread concern and online speculation, came the same day a separate man was found dead in an unrelated hanging 100 miles away. An attorney for Reed’s family has raised questions about early communication from authorities as the community awaits more answers.
