Despite airing its final episode more than 15 years ago, ‘Sister Sister’ remains one of the most loved and lauded sitcoms of all time.
From the antics of leads Tia and Tamera Mowry, to the laughs served up by supporting characters Lisa, Ray, and of course Roger, the show set a precedent few have been able to rival.
Still, with both Mowry sisters having blossomed into womanhood and enjoying success in their solo endeavours, a reboot seemed somewhat far-fetched.
Not anymore.
During an interview to promote new show Instant Mom, Tia revealed that she wants to revisit the twins’ on-screen story, going as far as to relay the direction she’d want it to take.
Details below…
Sister 2 Sister aptly reports:
When OK! magazine caught up with Tia for the 20th anniversary of her classic sitcom, airing now on The Hub, the actress got really excited after the idea of a movie was brought up. She’s so gung-ho about the idea that she’s even come up with a plot line for a potential Sister, Sister movie follow-up.
Last time “Sister, Sister” fans saw the twins playing Tia Landry and Tamera Campbell, the characters were in college working towards their degrees. Tia was even considering an internship with the WNBA.
If they ever got to revisit those roles, the “Instant Mom” star wants to examine how different the sisters’ lives have become in the years since “Sister, Sister” went off the air.
“Oh, my gosh! I would love to do Tia and Tamera go to Paris or to see where are they now. Maybe one of them is married, one’s not, one of them’s extremely successful and the other one’s struggling and she has to help the one who’s struggling. One of them has a family, the other one doesn’t.”
Nostalgia can be a tricky road to journey down, yet we’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited by the concept!
In there here and now, though, fans can catch Tia on Nickelodeon’s Instant Mom and Tamera on The Real when it returns for a full season run in September.
I think it would be awesome!
Im here for it thats my childhood show.
I would honestly rather them to bring it back as a new sitcom, like what they are doing now as older 30 y.o.’s and what not.
It would have to be well developed but could be interested. IMO. A movie would just be cheesy the way I could see it.
Look at veronica mars the movie. Once you cancel a show, don’t try and revisit it 20 years later with a movie. #UltimateFlop
Why no? I mean. They can get contracted with another television show company. I prefer BET, because by them being older, they can spice things up a bit, instead of leaving it a child’s play thing for Disney. It would be more entertaining, you feel me. Besides, we hardly got anything to watch on television now, lol :)!
I honestly feel that they need to come out with a movie to pick up where they left off. Me, knowing that the movie will be a hit, they can do the sitcom show again to pickup where they left off from the movie. By doing this, it will generate a buzz for the show. My question to you know, do you agree with me?
No
