Wendy Williams continues expand her TV repertoire.
For, the shock jock turned television maven is maturing her production output by signing on to executive produce Lifetime‘s much-talked about Aaliyah biopic.
Surprising, right?
Full details below…
The revelation came today on Twitter, where Williams wrote:
I’m excited to exec produce the Aaliyah @lifetimetv movie w/ @DebraMChase. Prod starts later this month and @AlexShipppp will play Aaliyah.

The mogul’s addition to the project will only intensify the debate that has engulfed the film. Indeed, not only have the late singer’s family hired a lawyer to prevent her music from being used in the movie, there has been drama surrounding who’ll portray the much-loved star – who died aged 22 in a tragic plane crash thirteen years ago.
In a move that was all sorts of messy, singer Zendaya was formally announced as the actress that snagged the role – press release et al. Yet, days later, she would go on to declare her departure from the project.

Will Williams’ addition bring some much needed order to the already controversial production? Time will tell. What is certain is that she has a tall task ahead of her.
