Undeterred by the backlash the Aaliyah biopic caused, Lifetime are pressing ahead with their much-talked about Whitney Houston movie.
Produced by Angela Bassett, the film is being led by Yaya DaCosta who steps into the iconic stilettos of the late, great vocalist.
With anticipation to see how the flick turns out high, the network have today revealed that its debut is sooner than one may assume.
Find out when ‘Whitney’ is set to blaze the box below…
In a press statement, Lifetime announced that the movie will hit screens on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 8pm ET/PT.
To further build buzz, new stills from the film have been released. Check them out below…
We’ll be watching, as we feel it only fair to give this a chance given that it’s a different directorial team to that of the Aaliyah flick.
That said, will you be tuning in next month?
Michelle Williams should have played Whitney…
Vonzell Solomon or even Rhona Bennett wouldve been my choices
The actress looks more like Angela Basset but I’ll be watching. Still mad at what LifeTime did to my Queen though!
Lawd… This movie gon be a mess. At least Yaya looks good in these pictures.
They shouldn’t have ever released the Aaliyah movie. It kind of tarnished their ability to actually have viewership for their next biopics! The preview looked amazing though.
Unfortunately Lifetime was acting greedy and it backfired on them. I’ll still be watching.
Kelly Rowland should have played Whitney http://t.co/13MBqkhhb2
I feel like this movie will be better only because they actually took their time filming it. Take notes Wendy! And I have a feeling this movie will stomp all over Wendy’s Aaliyah ratings!
Im here for this yaya is beautiful also can can sing high pitch i know ppl like she dont look like it dont matter if they cant sing just like angela as tina and thats everyone favorite bio pic give it a chance first then judge
meh
Not here for it.
Whitney is too great for this and it´s obvious they just want to focus on 90s Whitney and some of her problems and marriage, leaving all the spectacular impact and 80s unprecedent success for a black artist on a side, which is the real deal and why she became one of the biggest and most admired artists of all time.
I’ll be watching, and it had better be good. I was a Whitney stan long before Eminem’s “Stan” and the whole concept of stan-ing for your favorite artist. Even when Whitney was in the deepest part of her drug addiction, I was rooting for her to get her life together and get back on top. Bring it, AnBass, bring it.
