FOX aren’t just onto a hit with their new show ‘Empire’, they’re onto a certified smash!
Because, for the seventh consecutive week, the Lee Daniels series has delivered its highest ratings.
Details below…
The show’s eighth episode aired last night and registered a series high rating of 5.3 among adults 18-49.
As for total viewership, the Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson title leaped to 13.75 million viewers — rendering it the most watched telecast of the night.
Impressive on many a front, The Hollywood Reporter crucially notes that ‘Empire’s growth – up 39 percent from its premiere – means it has now grown more than any other broadcast drama since ‘House M.D’. a decade ago.
Needless to say, it’ll be intriguing to see if the music drama can keep hitting such high notes as it struts towards its two-hour season finale on March 18th. Whatever the case, its status as a major must-see series is cemented!

I love that we have a black program that’s slaying and it’s a yall GOOD! Kudos to all involved and I hope the show continues to rise
Always about race. Unbelievable.
Clearly you don’t live in America.
Haters KEEP TROLLING! EMPIRE IS AN ALL STAR AFRO BLACK LINE UP AND WE ARE NOT BEING RACIST JUST VERY VERY PROUD OF THE CULTURES MOVEMENT IN HOLLYWOOD IN TODAYS ERA! THIS IS NOT ONLY A GREAT SHOW BUT IT EXPOSES SO MANY TALENTED PEOPLE LOVING LOVING LOVING IT!!!
If you Guys download the fox app on iOS, you can watch every episode for free! And I know that next weeks episode is going to be even better because the preview was FIRE!!

Ciara’s, that is.
Well deserved. Empire is an AMAZING show. I be so glued to the tv I may as well be an extra on set. #CookieFever
And they said Blacks don’t get views/sales/tickets. We’re kings and queens of entertainment.
Now if only we could get our films and music to constantly deliver great numbers… It’s a shame the only black artists who can sell are Bey, Rihanna, Nicki, Drake, Wayne, Kanye and Jay
You know I have to be honest, at first I thought was overrated and cheesy at points. It was like the acting was good, but the script was cringe worthy. Now, it is my second favorite show on TV. It just gets better and better with every episode, so the ratings are well deserved.
This show is a BEAST. It deserves all the success it’s getting.
Love that people are supporting a BLACK show, on a MAJOR network. Unfortunately, this show makes me cringe. So, I can’t really help with the ratings. But, congrats!
Empire’s success shows that the general public will go for a show if it’s compelling. Like Sanford & Son and The Jeffersons in the 70s, The Cosby Show in the 80s, and Fresh Prince and Martin in the 90s, you can broaden a show’s appeal by simply making it funny and/or interesting, whichever applies.
Black lives and views do matter after all.
I really am. Not trying to offend but this is why black people are ao messed up. This show is. Othing but the tired glorification of ‘street life’ and sells the Same tired lie that drugs can lead to some legitimate and fabulous lifestyle
In fact it leads to death destruction, we need to reject any and everything with a drug theme no mtatger how subtle, that is not Who we are but who we have become thanks to this well packaged garbage
Shame on you all, we are kings and queens not drug tinged people that America is comfortable projecting and you all blindly and foolishly cosign
Power to the real people
You are very naive and need to learn a little bit about how the world works. You’d be surprised to learn that most “white” companies that are now Fortune 500 were built with mob money or off the backs and blood of slaves and sweat shops. Don’t try to be “holier than thou” and demean the success of black companies JUST because it was founded by drug money. It’s actually the American way and we FINALLY figured out how to play the game.
