FOX has struck TV gold with its new hit series ‘Empire,’ as evidenced by yet another ratings spike from Wednesday night’s episode.
In fact, the show – which has seen a viewership increase with each of its first five episodes – has broken TV records as the only series in Nielsen history able to claim such feat.
Get the details below as the show’s star, Terrence Howard, weighs in on its monumental success and calls for a guest appearance from Grammy-winning rapstress Lil Kim:
Via Variety:
“…[‘Empire’ hit] a series high in viewership for the fifth straight week since its premiere and [is] standing as easily the night’s No. 1 program…
Since bowing with 9.9 million viewers on Jan. 7, the soap has grown with each week: 10.3 million, 11.1 million, 11.4 million, 11.5 million and now 11.9 million [as revealed by preliminary data].
Last week, it became the first program in the history of Nielsen’s People Meters (going back to 1991) to grow in total viewers with each of its four episodes following its premiere.”
Updated national estimates from Nielsen revised the show’s final Wednesday night ratings upward to 11.96 million viewers overall.
The news on views comes just a day after Howard (seen above) took to Atlanta to continue the love shown to rapper Lil’ Kim, as first extended by his co-star Taraji P. Henson. Read more on that here.
