Oprah Winfrey is to star in the forthcoming Richard Pryor biopic alongside Eddie Murphy.

Winfrey is to portray the comedian’s brothel-owning grandmother and teams up with Kate Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Mike Epps to lead a cast brought on to by The Weinstein Company to tell Pryor’s story with help from Lee Daniels (‘Empire’), Bill Condon (‘Dreamgirls’)  and Danny Strong (‘Empire.)

So, who will portray who?

Hudson will play Richard’s wife Jennifer Lee Pryor while Epps will take on the lead role after beating the likes of Nick Cannon and Michael B. Jordan to bag it for himself with what is reported to have been an explosive audition.

Murphy takes on the role of the comedian’s father LeRoy “Buck” Pryor and will undoubtedly use his personal relationship with the late entertainer to assist Epps as he throws himself into Pryor’s dark and painful childhood and the comedic career that rose from its ashes.
