FOX’s ‘Empire’ continues to grow larger by the day. Literally.
Chart-topper Pitbull has been confirmed as the latest name to join season 2 of the music drama.

Variety reports the ‘Feel This Moment’ MC will play himself on an as yet untitled episode of the TV smash this Fall.
The particulars of his appearance haven’t been divulged, however it has been revealed that he will be performing the track ‘No Doubt About It’ with anchoring star Jussie Smollett (who plays Jamal Lyon).
Pitbull joins a long list of celebrities who’ve signed on for ‘Empire’ sophomore run; a list that includes (and, at this point is unlikely to be limited to) Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Chris Rock, Kelly Rowland, and Lenny Kravitz.

Granted the show now has a meatier number of episodes to work with (18 in comparison to season 1’s 12), the growing list of cameos is beginning to concern us. Just a little.
One of the major points of appeal for season one was how it introduced the world to relatively unknown actors Jussie, Bryshere Gray, and Trai Byers. It also provided that premium platform for established yet underrated talent like Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson to truly shine.
Fingers crossed that ‘Empire’ season two, with all its cameos from singers-who-act (and not the other way around), manages to find a way to preserve the magic of its debut run. Put simply, we hope the show doesn’t ‘Glee’ itself with the overexposure and “outside” meddling.
The first semblance of an answer arrives when ‘Empire’ returns on September 23rd.
Just like glee I see this show tanking ,if a show becomes more commercial and less of actually telling a good story ,then it won’t be long before audiences starts tuning out .
Tell that to trash like Modern Family, True Blood, and the Walking Dead.
Ew. Looks like I’ll only be watching the episode with Queen Mariah. I’m not interested in some generic musical show with 3rd rate “musicians” like Pitbull showing up regularly.

LOL who knows…. I remember Britney had a cameo on Sabrina and was supposed to be on BTVS, but that was way back when she was young and fresh on the scene. Honestly they seem to be gravitating to any available singer at this point.
Oh my goodness you are taken me to the 90’s! Lol I remember that episode too cause Britney was promoting that song to the movie Melissa Hart was staring in at the time. But yeah they are just added anyone with open availability in the name of promotional (self) gain.

I don’t think the star cameos will affect the show at all. Most of them in the first season — Courtney Love, Estelle, Jennifer Hudson, and the others — were in minor or recurring roles. Empire’s a hot show, and stars are lining up to do it, probably for union scale wages. Lee Daniels’ perspective: Bring ’em on!

Mess at FOX f****** up their only current hit like this. You would’ve thought they learned after the MASSIVE ratings decline for their two biggest scripted hits (Glee and New Girl, whose next season will probably be its last, especially if it doesn’t do well in syndication).
Yes, and I definitely think New Girl will end after its 5th season which is a real shame because it’s genuinely funny.
It’s a mess because last season was really a return to form. The writers messed up Nick and Jess’s relationship and although ratings were already down a lot by then, after that they really started to get terrible.
Unless it pulls a Big Bang Theory in syndication (very unlikely), it’s probably done.
OMG yes!! The Nick and Jess thing had potential but ended so awkwardly, and then when they became friends again it got more awkward. I really wanted Cece and Schmidt to work ????????????????
And weren’t they teasing them getting back together at the end of last season? That’s what some were thinking. It’s gonna do Glee season 5/6 ratings if that happens.
I heard the channel it’s being syndicated on in the U.S. focuses on comedy and has the rights to all the big comedy reruns like Big Bang Theory/Seinfield/Friends and it think it fits perfectly there so it MIGHT do well in syndication and it MIGHT get to season 6.

I have never watched this show in my life but it looks cramped like an xmen movie. So many big names with no real purpose or character development to them.

Season 1 had Raven Symone,Estelle,MJB,Courtney Love,JHud,Rita Ora?,Naomi Campbell etc,just as many as the guest stars now so I think it’s too soon to panic.
