Continuing their trend of high-profile biopics, Lifetime are reportedly gearing up to produce a new narrative based around the life of Grammy winning diva Toni Braxton.
Details below…
Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411 revealed that the network will create the flick – tentatively titled ‘Unbreak My Heart: The Toni Braxton Story’ – with the singer’s recent autobiography as its key source. Vondie Curtis Hall has been tapped to direct.
It goes without saying that Toni’s life has long been a movie waiting to happen. Indeed, her tale is one of immense success and triumphs, as well health scares and financial challenges. In recent times, though, redemption has been a key theme (as evidenced by this year’s Grammy win with Babyface for their stellar album ‘Love, Marriage, & Divorce’).
Per the report, it’s expected for the flick to touch on all facets of the contralto’s fascinating life.

As the last year has taught us, Lifetime biopics can skew in the right direction (‘Whitney’) and yet tumble with the terrible (‘Aaliyah’). Hence, we greet this news with caution.
That said, it does look to be off to a smart start; Braxton is thankfully still here to guide and basing the movie around her autography certainly helps its validity from the jump.
