Mariah Carey isn’t just flexing her vocal chords these days, she’s beefing up her acting resume.
It’s been almost 15 years since the disaster / cult classic that was ‘Glitter’ and, in the time since, Mimi has largely made right the wrongs of the ill-advised flick with critically praised roles in ‘Wise Girls,”Precious,’ and ‘The Butler.’
This year, the songbird signed on to produce and star in a Holiday film and it appears like it doesn’t stop there.
According to new reports, the 45-year-old will play a role in a new Batman movie. Just not the one you might be thinking.
Details below…
Deadline reports:
Mariah Carey is in talks for the role of Commissioner Gordon in The Lego Batman Movie, Warner Bros’ spinoff of The Lego Movie. Studio’s trying to keep everything under wraps, but sources say that Carey will join Ralph Fiennes (Alfred the Butler), Will Arnett (Batman), Michael Cera (Robin), Rosario Dawson (Batgirl) and Zach Galifianakis (The Joker). Not sure if Commissioner Gordon will sing, but it’s nice to know the character can, if called on.
Like her recent ‘Game of War’ gig, this is a little…random.
But, as any enduring star will confirm, those who last the longest are those who diversify their portfolio.
We just hope she doesn’t fall into the trap of pursuing any and everything.
